It comes down to two things, at least for me.

    1. Design
    2. Warranty

They are subjective often and even with warranty, it is hard to put a price tag on it for comparison. You would have to choose what you would prefer with the design and the warranty.

How much is it by the way?

About $720-$740. How reliable is Dell?

Oh? That is actually pretty expensive given the specs...

By any chance have you looked into dell.com/outlet? Check Dell outlet twitter for 20% off additional coupon. ALWAYS wait for those when making the purchase. Outlet sells mint conditioned laptops (certified refurb, but there are few "scratch and dent") with exactly the same warranty.

Dells are as reliable as any other PCs. They use all the other generic hardware like others: cpu, ram, HDD etc. Even the screen is made from other manufacturers. If you HDD fails, you cannot blame Dell, etc. That is why I said to focus on warranty.

As you can see from my sig, I only use Dells so quite frankly I cannot really compare it with other PCs.

It's not that Dell is quite expensive, it's that you can probably get those same specs cheaper elsewhere. At least Google some coupon codes if you're going to go with Dell.
