I will (just recently in fact) cause I format and do a clean install in any case. I could care less what Dell puts on there if I'm getting a cheap machine because of it.

In fact, let them put even more stuff and pass some of those savings on to me.

Of course, I guess that I feel sorry for those people who don't know enough about computers to do so. I remember when I was buying my g/f's 8600 for her she told me that a guy she worked with had a Dell and had all kinds of problems with it because of pop-ups and stuff. I had to reassure her that I'd take care of it; which I obviously did. She couldn't be happier afterwards.

    *edit* Spelling.

Dell puts tons of Junkware on their computers. I'm not surprised some of it is clasified as spyware. They put lots of free trial ware that do contain adds. But I'm like Jumbie... whats the big deal? Your getting a machine at a great price! Jest install a fresh copy of Xp and your good to go.

My brand new Latitude D820 didn't come with ANY preinstalled garbage ware, see my review and look at the screen shot of what software came preinstalled on it.

Your not going to buy a a laptop or desktop computer prebuilt for the home user from anyone that doesn't come with the garbage apps on it. Dell is about the lesser of all the evils when it comes to the preinstalled software you get on the home systems.

If you had a clue you wouldn't care, it's not like the stuff can't be removed.

If you had a clue you'd also know it's not just Dell, it's across the board.

If you had a clue you'd also know by now which systems to buy that come with no preinstalled software from Dell.

Thanks for trying to save the world with your brilliant insight on all matters, next time do your homework before trying to share it with all of us though.

Very funny explanation! What about the people who don,t know anything about these things, So Dell has the right to do wrong( if it is true) because others are doing same.
Who told u that all do this. I got Toshiba and there is none of trialware etc on it.
About homework I have no Dell and not going to get another laptop in near future, so can,t know it is true or not. That,s why I poted here in Dell forum so we can see is it true or not?
BTW until now nobody has confirmed it here.

I poted it here to know the truth from Dell users. Is this article correct?
I have no dell and none of my friends either. So I have no way to confirm. If somebody knows it from his personal experience, pls tell.
Otherwise it may be just an Anti-Dell article.

And BTW, u can always do a clean OS install.

That article is nearly one year old. IMO, it's not valid any more. My 1705 didn't come with any of that junk. My wife's 1100 didn't come with any of that junk either, and it's nearly two years old.

So the article is either wrong or some isolated issue.

That's odd, I looked at several Toshiba models in the local electronics stores being sold by clueless morons and everyone of them I looked at where loaded to the hilt with preinstalled garbage ware just like all the other brands were. I did see one Toshiba model I must admit I really liked, unfortuneatly I didn't like the restricted hardware options you were limited to with it either in the store or on their web site. If I can't pick and choose all the hardware I want like Dell offers then then there's not going to be a sale coming out of my pocket.

There is the Macs, they come with limited garbage ware, but that's only because there's also limited software you can get for them anyhow, wheter it's software you want or not. They do come preinstalled with both I Tunes and Quicktime though, both are widely known spyware apps, in fact, if my history serves me correctly, I believe Quick Time was the original spyware software ever released and thus started the evolution of spyware. They can shove their proprietary software anyhow, mpg and mp3 non propriatary files work just fine for me and no need to insatall spyware to use those file types.

Dude, you need to set down the Vodka bottle and go back to school to learn how to read and write before you go off worrying about spyware or anything else, your posts are almost completely illegiable.
