The one graph shows Acer dropping -20.8% while the other shows a 49.9% growth. Uh what?

One is probably just the Acer brand while the other includes Gateway which is owned by Acer now.

Apple is rising for a reason, and it's not scary at all.

That's great! I am glad Dell is on top, but they better get to upgrading some things or I don't think they will be up there much longer.

Wow...Apple is #3..that is scary. Apple's computers are the worst thing that has come to the computer world...

Are those numbers multiplied by thousands? I cant imagine a company only selling 20k laptops a year. Hell, if its 5k for the 2nd Q when my work buys 500 laptops we make up about 10% of their total sales? ...i know were not the only school district that buys that many laptops every year (think nationwide). I wonder if this only is for say consumer grade computers (inspirons/xps) and not the latitude or precision line.

It says they are in thousands on the table. So it would be 5.4 million for Dell.

Hopefully they lose their spot at #1, and that makes them clean up their act.

As bad as that sounds, I hope they do too because they are really lacking and losing themselves in the fact they are number 1.

I saw that, what's your point? This is how a capitalist economy works. If you have a crappy job, find a better one.

It isn't about a crappy job, it's about under paying employees which is totally uncalled for and totally not how a capitalist economy works.

It's amazing that a whole generation is growing up thinking that this kind of thing is just how capitalism works. But it's even more amazing that they are docilely accepting it.

Hey EagleDevil, it is amazing how most the new generation thinks. They could care less about how things are and if something has changed in their life and they don't like it they will simply just get use to it instead of fighting to change it. I see the problem with the current generation and it's quite humorous, to me, because I am part of the new generation.

Thanks, BossMan. As I read back over my post, I realized that it was much too broad. Clearly, no generation can be described so simplistically.

I'm glad for Apples growth; I have nothing against them, but I simply prefer the windows OS. All this competition means better products. W00T. Honestly, I had no idea HP had 1/4 of the market  .

this could easily turn around if dell doesnt start announcing their new centrino 2 laptops as ppl will just get tired of waiting as they already are and move onto laptops in HP etc.

Under paying employees, is exactly how capitalism works (ah the mighty theory of surplus-value).

I disagree because most consumers are not like us. We are tired of waiting, but most people don't even know what Montevina is. Plus these other companies haven't released anything yet. Dell tends not to introduce products before they are ready to roll.

so far im actually really happy with my experiences with dell and my 1730. they have helped me out a lot and they honestly didnt have to since i didnt buy the system from them directly, i had broken replacement parts come in and they overnighted out new ones to me... honestly i hate to say this but i was a former sager owner and they would not have done that, they would have had me pay to send the parts back to them (dell pre paid for this) and wait till they got them to send out new ones. not so with dell they didnt even ask what was wrong with the parts. i just said they were broken and they put me on hold and came back saying id have new ones the next day.. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE... i really wanted a sager 9262 before buying this 1730 but i have to say other than the lcd quality which i will be replacing the dell is great quality and i have nothing bad to say yet about dell cust service. even all my former dealings were great except when they promised the lg screen i didnt get for my vostro 1500.. but i can overlook that..

Dell is the number one in the United States... too bad HP still has the lead over Dell in terms of worldwide sales.

mmm i wish dell would either release a 20 or 25% off coupon for australia or just announce the new xps line already.
