Seriously, they delayed my order from the 27th, to the 2nd and now to the 28th. I'm definately canceling
what the f*** kind of company IS this anyway? They don't have the parts ready for two months to make the computers? jesus it'll be outdated by the time I get it
-
-
Lack of patience on the part of the consumer doesn't make a bad company.
-
Build yourself a laptop and be your own support.
-
So go get a different computer....relax...
-
He should call corporate.
-
Not wanting to wait two months is not a lack of patience, especially if you were not told the delay would be this bad when you ordered. When I ordered, I expected a delay, despite the rep promising that it would be at my house within 15 business days, but I did not expect a two month delay.
-
DO us all a favor... cancel the order.
-
usually they ship it before the due date, makes them look good.
-
When your given a date by a company for a completion of something and in this case its a laptop then that company should abide to that date. Two month delay is absurd and the consumer should have every right to bash/yell/complain to dell. Your paying a good amount of money to get your laptop and you should get it in a timely manner.
-
Honestly, to claim that the fault here is a lack of patience is just wrong. A computer company unable to build a computer for 2 months because they don't have the parts is unacceptable in our modern day economy. A laptop is a time sensitve purchase, it loses value and becomes outdated extremely fast. By the time he receives his laptop, it will already have started to become outdated.
-
its not like its going be hugely outdated. with modern processors and such, the laptop will last a pretty long time. im still using my toshiba which has the older Core Duo...its still fast and I cant tell the difference from my core 2 duo mac.
although I agree that 2 months is along time to wait. -
It is especially inexcusable when people with the exact same specs get it weeks before you do.
-
What gets me is that these 2 month delays are based simply on the COLOR of the system. With the 8 colors being their main advertised selling point of the new Inspirons, why on earth would they be so unprepared to build them?
-
I think in these situations that Dell had a reasonable expectation that would be able to complete the orders on time, but unforseen circumstances and delays of parts from other manufacturers has thrown them off. Does this suck? Absolutely, but it can and does happen to other companies.
Imagine this, you sell something on ebay, you ship it timely, but the carrying service does not deliver it. Does this make you the worst seller on ebay ever? Probably not. -
WHat a great idea
-
It's probably an EPP order
-
Or an order for a sissy pink hello kitty model 1420
-
I agree! And what's worse is the fact they are currently advertising the HELL out of a product they cannot produce in a timely fashion! I mean geeze....if they are so god darned backed up with orders....why keep advertising?
-
I agree... 2 months is ridiculous. The least Dell could do is to actually be able to give the consumer solid information as to WHY it's being delayed (every rep seems to say something different, although consensus around here seems to be color) and give us a reasonably accurate estimation as to when we could expect our laptops.
-
That is completely different. Why? Because it's not you, the sellers fault. You supply the buyer with a tracking number and THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. In this case, Dell is just basically saying sorry, can't help you, just keep waiting or cancel. Meanwhile they hand out laptops to other people with the same specs in less than a week. I have seen more than one topic about people getting their 1520 in a bloody week, yet I've been waiting over three, some people on here far more. No matter what the problem, it shouldn't have taken THIS long to fix. The ONLY excuse I will accept is that they had to wait to get better screens and to fix the sound issue, because then it would actually be worthy. I doubt that's the delays though, because then they would have to admit there was a problem to start with and recall ALL the orders already sent.
-
Just wanted to brag that I cancelled...Dumped them for good, and told them where they could stick it. Good luck to all of you...Seriously mean that. I hope Dell delivers weeks early for you guys.
After my last 1 hour + wait on hold trying to upgrade I finally had enough. -
NOT WANTING TO WAIT TWO MONTHS IS LACK OF PATIENCE?
MAN!
I NEED THE COMPUTER _NOW_ NOT A MONTH FROM NOW -
I have been waiting since june 28th and haven't complained one bit
-
me too since 6/29.
-
Look, you get another $200 off for the delay to 8/28. It may be annoying, but at least its another $200 off. In a month, you'll be happy with your laptop, and whatever else you bought with your eaxtra money. Relax
-
Plus, chances are it's not actually going to take that long - I mean there are tons of systems being shipped now. It's likely that they just set you up with a long lead time to play it safe.
-
Can every one calm down a little bit?
-
yes but I don't think people need to come here and say "I've been waiting like a good boy and haven't complained ooooone bit" like they've got a lollipop stuck up their butt
and I have not received any $200 refund -

SISSY PINK... what the hell are you talking about? I love pink. If the m1330 would have come in pink I would have ordered one. Still wouldn't have it... but I would have ordered it.
-
HCW...what is Dell Corporate number? You always promote that practice but I have yet to see you give the number.
-
Yeah HCW... the rest of us want to follow your wisdom & stop calling the "peon CSR's"... so give up the number.
-
Feel free the cancel your orders if you ordered the 1520
and and don't want to wait no more
-
So it's Dell's fault that they can't get enough covers from their suppliers to fill their orders. Dell doesn't carry inventory, so it isn't their fault for not having the stuff, they order the components right after you order the system. And Dell, from what i hear, is usually saying, sorry, can't actually help you, but here's some money. And they wouldn't have to recall anything even if they did admit a problem, just be willing to fix the ones out there when contacted.
And lott, if you haven't gotten your $200 just keep trying or cancel, it is a simple situation. You will get your notebook soon enough, and if you don't the thing will be practically free.
Did you all REALLY expect the reaction to the 1520 to be this huge?
I don't think anyone did, not even dell. I'm sure they told their suppliers their estimates from surveys they did.
Edit: The prices alone keep dell out of the worst company ever category. -
hey buddy, when did u order your 1520? You have the same color and resolution LCD as mine.
-
Order black, and it arrives fast.
Check out mine below. -
June 26, received it the day before my estimated ship date(7/17), but i decided to pick it up from dhl instead of wait another day. So i should have received it the day of the estimated ship.
Edit: Torch, your screen res helped a lot too, not as much demand for 1280x800. -
I have that resolution and I have a delay on my screen.
-
The demand for matte screens went up after the problems w/ the AMO 1440x900 problems in the first batch.
You are right buckeye, that did help the speed of arrival for my notebook.
Dell is SERIOUSLY the worst company I have ever seen
