What the hell? That still looks way off. Where do you live? No taxes or something?
That'd normally cost you...freaking 1400+. -
yeah i dont know man im not sure i believe that
-
Kind of fishy. Or just some really dumb Dell CSR.
-
will posting images of my invoice + coupon emails prove?
-
with a little photoshop, anything is possible, buddy. no need to lie.
-
ya im pretty sure this is a lie, some kind of new thing thats the opposite of what a troller does. i vote the admin close this thread.
-
*cough*BS*cough*
And you REALLY needed to make an entire thread to show off your "deal"?? Desperate for some attention?? What do you want, a medal or a trophy??
Julia -
I don't know but this could be creditable, considering my univeristy sell vista ultimate @20 dollars each. Anything could be possible i guess...
-
I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to agree with the majority...Total Crap
-
Come on people, why the hell would he just make something up.
Dude, I believe what you say. And that's awesome. Congrats! -
what university do you go to?
...And I think it would be more appropriate for you to say that your university is the best. -
Julia -
I don't know.
Using the current prices for the upgrades
$1048 for the basic system
+$250 for the LED screen
+$150 for the video card
+$ 50 for the battery
- $215 credit
- $150 for concession
gets me $1133, which is nowhere near $674. -
Maybe he did his math wrong?
-
-
The only way I can see it is if the $1048 price that the university gave him included the 3 year Premium warranty, and then he removed the warranty. That would be another $387 off the price.
-
what uni do you go to
-
Unless he got one of those 75% off coupons...
-
Hahah look how many people here are jealous as hell.
-
i dont think people are jealous. People don't like [edited out by moderator]
If you are going to come on a forum, and tell everyone you got a too good to be true deal, you better have something to back up. -
Guys - stop with the rude comments. It's your choice to believe what the OP is saying. It does seem like a too good do be true deal, but just about anything is possible with dell.
I've seen people get the Dell 24" screen for $200 somehow... Usually sells for $600-700.
-
Its BS...but Im dying to see the doctored invoice (chuckle/chuckle). You would also have your confirmed order...just cut and paste.
Be an inspiration to us all. -
I would say give him the benefit of the doubt, and see if he reposts...although, he's probably been scared away now from all the bashing lol...
-
At that price, Dell would be giving you money... I find it really hard to fathom.
-
I don't think we scared him away, if he really did get it and proves it, he can tell us all to shove it and make us look like idiots and I know he would LOVE that, I know I would if I had a chance
lol
So let's see what he comes up with -
-
He must have gotten tired of anandtech, he posted the same stuff there.
-
I tried posting pictures on buzzdd but it doesn't work. What's a good image posting site? I have the pictures to back up.
-
i believe iv talked to this guy b4..he's legit
-
I think he talked about another deal he got similar to this one back in July. Check his past posts. Though I would like to know how he got a concession coupon and the credit on his order.

dude, who gives a fuk....got a nice deal, good for u! saved some money, make sure u don't blow it on some stupid shiat...invest
-
He's not lying about the deal. The University of Toronto's Premier Dell page basic configuration of an XPS 1330 is $1,046.93 CAD (not including taxes) which is a VERY good deal for Canada. I'm sure every university has a different configuration deal through Premier Dell, but U of T has:
- Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 (2MB cache/1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB)
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
- Tuxedo Black or Crimson Red
- Standard Display with or without 2.0 Megapixel Webcam or LED without VGA camera
- 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
- 120GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
- CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
- Intel ntegrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
- Intel 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card
- High Definition Audio 2.0
- 56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
- Microsoft Works 8. DOES NOT INCLUDE MS WORD
- No Security Subscription (30-day trial)
- No Fingerprint Reader
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0
- 1 Year Return to Depot Service and Technical Support
- DataSafe Online Backup 10GB
Pretty much if you want a fingerprint reader, or bluetooth, more memory, etc. the upgrades are also discounted by a few dollars than the regular Dell website. I'm sure there's room for negotiations on the phone. -
LOL Microsoft Word not include for a University Student... Sad.
-
Man, that's the price of a stripped-down Vostro 1000. I hate you.
-
wow. i totally miss college. no longer can i stare at teets (am i allowed to say this on this board) all day long, but those great discounts for mobile phone plans and laptops!
-
I totally agree with the thread title.
I can't believe dell is letting people replace whole notebooks because of 'grainy' screens and headphone 'noise'.
Kudos to dell! -
I have written this post not to brag, but to inform people who's going to buy m1330. It is rediculous to pay over $2000 USD for this computer. I have a friend in college who bought m1330 through dell business (online) rather through Employee purchase program (through University).
If you're a college student, make sure you buy it through your university.
Also, just be aware of this phrase, "Customer is the king."
If you're having issues where it is clearly Dell's fault (excessive delays, problems, and etc.) you as a customer have a right to get compensated.
As the title suggests, Dell has been courteous to me, at least, and they were willing to listen and help as best as they could. This is the reason why I keep going back to Dell. -
So, uh, guys...
The bashing suddenly quits?
Oh yeah, he made you all look like fools and now you feel like idiots.
Good job being jacka**es for no apparent reason. -
matt is pro, i totally with u on that....whose fault is it, if u didn't do enough research and the other guy did and got a kick butt deal? yeah....try answering that one
-
agreed. you guys sounded like little kids on here..."bs" "liar!"
if i was him i'd be laughing at all of you right now.
but u ask who gives? i do, its nice to see what kind of prices other people are getting for their laptops. -
i don't understand... where did the college girl tatas go?
Dell is teh best!
