I placed my order for the e1705 with 7800Go back in February and it's been delayed 3 times already. I just talked to their modification dept. or whatever earlier and they told me that they're not going to get this card anymore even though I placed my order back when this card was still available. In other word, they're telling me that there's no point for me waiting for it. They gave me option of replacing it with the X1400 with $200 less than 7800Go. But I'm still looking at a ship date around April.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has been told the same thing. Is it possible for Dell not to order the 7800 card to fulfill my order even though it was available when I placed the order? Isn't that a false advertisement? Is there anything I can do? I decided to go with Dell mainly because of that card and now I'm not going to get it! I have until the end of today if I want to keep my order. thanks.

I have been waiting on a replacement laptop for the past 3 weeks. I have an E1705 with some light leakage and some other issues, but now I'm wondering if I'll just hang onto it since you are saying the 7800 won't be available anymore.
My replacment lappy has been constantly delayed since the first week of march.. Can anyone else confirm there will be no more 7800 go's? Someone else posted a Dell rep told them the 7800 will be back in May....

You said that you are getting a replacement because of lickage problem in your screen. So, the video card is fine. Is there a way you can ask Dell to ship the laptop without a video card. So you can then take the 7800 go card from your current laptop that you are sendind back and put into your new one? Just a suggestion.
-
Jack, when did you order you e1705?
-
Yeah, ya gotta hate that lickage
-
You should just cancel your order -
Cancell your order. The X1400 is **** compared to the 7800 by far
-
I'd cancel and wait for the 7900, that's the delay from Dell's side.
-
oh god! mine is being delayed too and no one will tell me why - even though i can guess its the 7800 - this is really going to cheese off alot of people including me! what htye should do is offer us the 1705 with the 1400 but with a coupon for the new 7900 when it comes out! - - - - can anyone else confirm this? there really isnt an alternative is there??? anyone know of a good alternative? with at least a 7800/6800 ultra video card for about the same price?

I chatted with another Dell customer service again today and she assured me that I will get everything I ordered including the graphic card. I don't know if I really believe that anymore. I'm thinking about getting another brand at this point since I needed this laptop like a few weeks ago. Even if I decide to go with the x1400, I'll still have to wait until April and the price won't be as good as my original order. I wish I could wait for the 7900!
-
well to be honest - no one at dell ever ahve the same answer - they only seem to say the same thing "that i need to wait a few more days then i will get a reply from their "supervisor"" which is crazy that no one at dell knows what the darn assembly line is doing with the laptops!

hey guys, am i the only with having issues with dell customer reps? everytime i try to get more information out of them i either get disconnected or somehow they send me straight back to the menu after i was just on the phone with a live rep???
this is such horrible service... -
try chatting with their online sales rep. I would try to do the same but i'm trying to finish another project.
-
I just cancelled my order...which I had placed with the x1400...decided that I want to wait at least for a 7800. Any idea when the 7900 is supposed to be out and available?

I received mail saying it was delayed, but nothing about having to change the gfx card.
Dell isn't going to order 7800Go for my order!
