If you still need to order a notebook, go to the outlet (or dfsdirect.ca in Canada) and you should be able to get the old rates on an open box plus an extra discount.

It's possible they jacked the rates to offset a coupon that's available. Then again, Dell's pricing is seriously strange at best.

    Hi,

here in Germany, Dell's pricing politics is the same strange thing. Prices are raised or dropped from one day to the other with no reason.
We don't have these coupons you have in the US, but they have sales offers which change almost weekly (you can have a look at dell.de if you wanna see).
Sometimes, these offers look better than all those of the last weeks, but when you configure the system, the price is even higher than the week before. Aditionally, the salesmen on the telephone hotline give you better prices than you'd get online in most cases.

    Greets,
    Tobi

the prices rise and fall with their costs, thats why the availability of parts and brands differ from day to day, 160 gig drives are available one day, the next they arent, also today is thursday, they are propbably going to release a big coupon, and the price hike could be there to offset it, when there arent any big coupons, the site price is fairly low, when there are big coupons they shoot up,you end up paying about the same either way, some folks prefer to think they are getting a steal with a coupon, some just want a no hassle deal, and dell tries to accomodate both, personally I prefer the outlet, thats where the real deals are,and the machines are sound and support is the same as ordering new

I recommend calling them. They'll usually work with you if you complain enough.

When I priced mine out I saw the 160gb drive there one minute, gone the next deal. I finally ended up getting mine off of Ebay for $1200. There's always someone with a good employee discount selling them. When I got it, did a transfer of ownership and added on complete care for a few years.

Well, I purchased my E1505 right after thanksgiving - using two discounts and got a great deal- have not seen anything like it since then. Would cost me several hundred more today. Hard to follow their ups and downs in prices.

The question is, will they honour it with the newest coupon codes?
