...was on the phone with Dell for an hour after the $650 coupon failed to work for the E1750...the woman (spoke English thank God) but failed to sell me the notebook b/c she thought it was: 1st, the XPS (after i told her it wasn't), then 2nd, b/c it's a new model, and 3rd, her tech person and manager said the "best they could do" was add $150 to the FAKE sale of $300 off they have on the site ($1999)...BLAH
I was a hard ass, trying the best I could, telling them I wasn't going to buy anything from them b/c the coupon CLEARLY states that the $650-off works on all models except XPS...and they said they "had their hands tied" and couldn't give in to giving me the deal..
should I just give in and get the 9300 (with the $650-off) or buy a Sony Vaio at $2500 or what? LOL
THIS IS GETTING FRUSTRATING!!!

New technology...new technology. Don't go to Sony. Just wait.
-
wait for what? if u were using the desktop I was using you'd vomit....I can't wait too longer...but i don't want to feel cheated by settling for something or overpaying....
helpppp I need a notebook! -
I hate to say this, but apparently dell is blocking the coupon for the E1705. Technically it is an Inspiron, but I've tired to use the coupons and so have other users.
-
OK so do I just buy the 9300...honestly I don't know if I can go another 2-4 months with this computer...in fact, I can't....but i'd hate to get the 9300 and have the e1750 coupons work soon after...
-
The i9300 is great, but I would wait if I were you.
-
If that code worked on this and got it down to ~1500 I would pull the trigger right now.
-
Yeah, I just had to help a friend pick out a computer. I was trying to get him the E1750, but since there are no coupons we pulled the trigger on an Acer 8204 instead. Really, it is only $400 more than the E1750, but it comes standard with the 2.0 processor, 2GB ram, 120GB hard drive, bluetooth, the x1600, a built in camera. It's a much better deal, and I like Acer much more than Dell anyway. I'm sure he'll love it, Dell just did an excellent job of losing one sale, that's for sure!!
-
just be persistant and ask to escalate the sale continuously. if they're still being jerks than ask directly for the sales associates name, the name of her manager, and the name of that guy's manager and threaten with with a letter to the better business bereau. Unless Dell specifically states that you can't apply the coupon to preexisting deals or a specific model there's no reason why they shouldn't give you the discount.
Just remember, be firm but also be polite. Don't get beligerant on them or else that just makes it all the more difficult to make a sale in the end.
Oh and one last tip, these work off commission too so just hint that if they give you good service you'll refer them to you friends and purchase again in the future. I did that with my dell purchase and eventually got my way after like 1.5 hours on the phone with them. -
I was pricing a dell and tried to use the copouns listed here but got an error msg stating that it was only good for the first 4000 users.
-
Which laptop were you trying to price? I can't imagine the new coupons already being sold out for the regular inspirons. If you got that error on the E1705, it is probably just rejecting the coupon all together.
-
I think I was doing a 9300...it was at the tail end of the last set of coupons posted.
-
oh okay. I think we have new coupons posted, but i'm not sure. If not, we should have new ones posted very soon. Normally dell issues them every week to two weeks.

That's probably the biggest thing I don't like about Dell...there are too many ways to get the best pricing...it's very tricky to find the best pricing, you always feel like they are tricking you.
-
there are new coupons as of this morning, but they are not working on the e1705
On an up note, I'm getting the e1705 next week from Dell -- but only a review unit to keep for a couple of weeksLast edited by a moderator: Feb 2, 2015 -
I just messed around to see if the coupon would work and because chose a deal of the week it wouldn't take it on a 9300...too many ways to price, never know if you are getting the best deal!!
-
First, make sure you're using the most recent coupon. Hopefully, you won't have to call the order in. If you do have to call them, and the person on the phone claims to be unable to get you the deal, say "thank you" and call back. You'll get a different person. I promise you that they CAN get you the discount; it's a matter of whether or not they choose to. If the second time doesn't work, try one more time (seriously). The third time, ask for a supervisor right from the beginning. Say you've had difficulty placing an order on two separate occasions, and do not let the rep talk you into working with him/her. The supervisor should handle it.

blah, come on

HMLintz, thats a great piece of advice, these guys are all sales ppl who work on commission so there's nothing they "can't" do. Its just a matter of how much money they want to make in the end.
-
Well, I could be wrong, but I interpret it as them having to report to someone, rather than wanting to milk the commission. I doubt they say any significant increase from $150 in sales, but I can definitely imagine someone's manager getting nasty. Again, though, I do assure you that they can do it. In fact, someone in a low-level managerial position in most retail stores can do the same thing. Just a matter of will, knowledge, and creativity.

Dell mentioned something in their stock report about increasing profit margins. Bricks and mortar is the only way to go. Lo ball price sounds good though.

This is just a little speculation. It is sounding to me that Dell wants to increase profits.
Dell is really popular for computers because of their price. Most people don't even know about the coupons when they buy the computers online.
Since Dell has got a well known name and a great customer base they will bump up the prices a little and since they have alot of return customers...which for the most part will buy, they will increase their profits.
I also hope they keep the prices low, but for being on the cutting edge, people will pay high prices. If they are willing to pay then go Dell for getting the money.
Just my thoughts.
Dell just doesn't want to sell the E1750
