Not surprising, just like the Nvidia issue. Even though the problem is known, since there's no way to "fix" it once and for all, so all they can do is extend the warranty an additional year and be more lenient about motherboard replacements. That's what they did with my GX270 and GX280.

more bad rap for mikey. i hope dell crashes and burns after all the grief they've caused me. it is absolutely beyond me as to why people still buy from Dell and defend the company.

Hint: IMO, they still are.

No company that has been doing business for that long, or is that large, will be free from an occasional recall or defect. To be honest, they did all that they could: extend the warranty. There is really no other cost-effective remedy. It's how they handle it, and how often it happens, that matters.
I've been affected by both major defects, the Optiplex capacitor issue and the Nvidia recall, but ProSupport did a great job of handling it, and it doesn't make me hesitate to recommend Dell. -
Dell is just a steaming pile of .

ahhhh the capacitor issue comes up again, I loved spending hours on end soldering on new caps all day long because no one wanted to wait for weeks to get their machine repaired.
think I still have a few hundred of the 3300uF capacitors leftover from that fiasco from almost all the assemblers and motherboard makers, still change a bunch to this day too. -
Wow i didnt know about this, ive got 3x Optiplex Gx280's at work, i didnt notice any swollen capacitors when i cleaned them out. Theyve been working fine over the years.
Im currently using one as WSUS and AV server, might move that over in light of this defect. -
