Well what we could do for you is, maybe you should complete the notebook faq in the hardware section and then copy and paste it into a new thread. Then we all can know excactly what you want, there might be something better for you out there. Its a suggestion.
Dells warranty is pretty good. Its a big price jump from the 2nd year to the 3rd year. What you can do is get the 2 year in home service, that way the tech co0mes out and you can ship the computer in to dell for free, and then before 2 years, upgrade the warranty. It gets to be over $400 or even more when you get higher in the warranty, especially when you add complete care. Just a thought. By the way you could also just add the complete care for 2 years for $119USD when i last checked.

When I bought my Inspiron 9300 over the phone I dealt with the guy a bit, he lowered the price of the computer after I hesitated enough.

He offered the Complete Care at 299$CAN for 3 years, I hesitated again. He put me on hold for 10 seconds, came back and said how about 199$CAN (166$US), still 3 years.... I said OK.

The thing I learned is you can deal with them, and they get a nice kickback when they sell warranty, use that to your advantage. At least it worked for me....

im looking to buy an i6000.
when i was talking to the guy at a local store comparing it with a vaio he said to get the 3yr warranty because the 6000 has a dodgy screen that was only covered in the 3yr warranty.
is this tha case or was he just crapping on

"...that was only covered in the 3yr warranty."

Doesn't make much sense. If the screen has any issues on you within the first year, then the standard 1-year warranty will cover that. If you have extended to 2-year and something happens 23 months down the road, you'd be covered.

I don't see why you would require the 3-year for problems with the screen (unless they obviously happen IN that 3rd year).

Ya, he was just 'crapping on'.

I'm also wondering if there is any nice fitting protective sleeve for the 700m w/ the optional (but required for almost all people) 8-Cell battery. Where could one buy this 'sleeve', and what to look out for when purchasing one? (Material that it is made from, size, reputation ect.)
