    Hi,

    How does a 17.3" HD+ (1600 x 900) TrueLife WLED (LC-WLED) 900p screen compare with a 17'' WUXGA CCFL(1920x1200) TFT TrueLife screen?

    Thanks in advance

Save for the fact that the LED screen has a lower resolution/different aspect ratio and probably uses less power, it's hard to say. Dell uses multiple brands of LCDs in their machines; "17.3" HD+ (1600 x 900) TrueLife WLED (LC-WLED) 900p" might represent a family of four or five different panels, while "17'' WUXGA CCFL(1920x1200) TFT TrueLife" might represent a different three or four different screens.

One particular "HD+" screen might have better colors than a particular 17" WUXGA, or one particular 17" WUXGA might be more washed out than a particular "HD+", but these relations won't hold true for the entire selection HD+/17" WUXGA displays.

I think the 900p screen in the Studio 17 is terrible. Resolution is too low, the viewing angle is bad, it's a poor TN panel, the top of the screen looks different from the bottom.

I'd take the 1920x1200 screen on the xps any day.

Now, the WLED 1920x1080 for the Studio 17 is absolutely stunning.
