    Hi everyone,

I've noticed HP computers seem to suffer from battery wear issues, with owners reporting extremely high wear levels after 1 year of use. I was wondering if dell laptops, particularly the precision line, also suffer from this problem?

    Best.

Yes, I know. However, it seems that HP batteries have a shorter life span. I have a hp dv1267ea that, after on year of use had a wear level of 50%+ and after 1.5 years it completly died. Reading some posts on the HP forum, it seems that this is a common problem with HPs (at least with the consumption line models). I have an Asus A8js that is 1 year old and the battery only reports a 7% wear level and it is still capable of holding for 2h15m. I was wondering if Dell's laptop batteries had the same problem has the HP or not. If someone tells me that their battey has a wear of about 20% after one year of use, that's ok by me.

The 6-cell battery in my HP DV6113US has already failed within 11 months. It will only hold charge for about 30 mins or less. But it's mostly my fault since I leave the laptop plugged in most of the time. I didn't get much battery life to start out with. Since the cpu is an AMD turion x2 TL-50, I was only getting 1 - 1.5 hr of battery life. I think it all depends on how you use your laptop. If you leave it plugged in for too long at a time, or never cycle the battery, the battery will probably wear down faster

Wear levels from software are almost completely inaccurate. Like stated above, all Li-ons fail, usually within 2-3 years.

Uninstall and download again, reinstall. Maybe from the alt site. It should work on D820.

I know, and I understand. However, my 1 year Asus still gets 2/2.15 hours from the original battery and the wear level is just 7% or something according to NHC. HP laptops seem to have wear problems (my expererience and according to some posts on the HP forum). My question is if Dell also has these problems (from reading the forum it doesn't seem so) and if the Precision line has better batteries.
