    Dell latiotude D82O keyboard problem!!!

    hi! I have trouble writing since for some reason my keyboard decided to respond weirdly to my typing my thesis!!!!

    i am desperate!

    whenever I type "i" comes "io"
    whenever I type "p" comes "po"


    Noone has messed with my laptop and it is certain that noone spilled anything on it!

    plz, help me! I have a dead line! :eek:

    I suspect it is a physical/ electrical keyboard problem. I presume you can remove the surplus "o"s with the backspace key.

    Can you borrow an external USB keyboard and see if that works correctly? If so, then it is definitely the internal keyboard.

    thanx for the reply! unfortunately IO have an external keyboard but the "plug" doesn't much with the usb ports that the laptop has (the external keyboard has a round ending while the laptop has a slot like)

    by the way, it t n0w it d0esnt respond at all!

    I think that most of the PS2 keyboards like the one you have come with an adapter for USB. Is your D820 still under warranty? The keyboard is not too difficult to repair, but if you need a fast solution to get your paper done before Dell can replace it, then a trip to Walmart or some other computer store can get you typing again.

    I call the service department, luckily I have technical support for 3 years so a keyboard replacement is on the way next Monday, thanx to all of you for your help! (in the mean time, I got another keyboard connected at the usb port of the laptop to get some of the work done!)
