Is it just ground or is it express ground? Mine was express ground and that's what DHL calls overnight. I got mine the next day.

So question is? Did you pay for the "overnight" shipping?

If you didn't, then yes they have nothing to refund you. You can ask for coupons for the inconvenience, but u can't get refunded for something you didn't pay.

If you did pay, then tell them to look at your receipt/bill of sale whatever and tell them to refund that.

People have gotten their shipping refunded from Dell when they messed up, but that's only if they actually paid extra for the shipping.

Idk what your case is, because Dell wouldn't just say you didnt pay anything for shipping, so we cant refund that.

They don't do overnight shipping for "expedited"

Now you're complaint is on the fact that they didn't hold their word.
Fine but what can you expect. I bet tens of people are asking for the same thing.

I didnt pay for it, but it was offered to me and i took it as a promise like many others. I paid 1200 bucks for my lappy and i think i deserve an overnight shipping.

Yes they do. They did for my original system and replacement.. But they did lie to me as well. My first system had a cracked lid. And I told them I wanted the replacement to have the same SEC panel.. because I did not want a grainy AUO display.. Well I got a grainy AUO display and I returned both systems. I just got a letter from Dell and they reviewed the conversation and agreed that the rep had promised a SEC display on the replacement system. They are very sorry and actually understand that they messed up.. big time. They expressed that I would be refunded 100% for my troubles.. I was also within the first 21 days which is very important. I think that Dell has excellent customer care. The CSR's were always professional and nice. I think the big problem lies in their manufacturing processes and their use of multiple suppliers for displays.. some good.. some bad. Their quality control.. is not up to par yet. I guess quality is not really improving like many had hoped for Dell. I got a HP 6500t on order now. Hopefully I have better luck with them.

I agree, if they offer it they should provide it. I think some CSR's or agents just throw that out just to keep you from canceling etc... Also, as I understand it, only the overseas Customer service reps can expedite and provide free overnight shipping. If a sales agent says they will provide expediting or free overnight shipping.. then they are lying. The sales people can't offer this anymore. The best thing to do if they offer this, is to call them back and make sure there is a record of it. If they put it in the system, any CSR should be able to tell you its there.

Alright, time to speak up. You don't deserve overnight shipping. You deserve what you paid for which is ground shipping. And as a matter of fact, I believe you really got next business day shipping which is also called ground shipping. That explains why you said "where do you live?" when a previous poster replied "NBD is called ground with DHL

Calm down. The reason I got offered free shipping in the first place was because I had wanted to add the IR remote on the 1420. It was not my fault because the option to add that in was not in the configuration cart when I first put in the order. I called Dell and they would not sell me the IR remote separately and I had to cancel/modify order just to add IR remote. They offered me the overnight and expediting.. I did not even ask for it. I just asked if I could have my original shipping date since they screwed up and did not have the IR in there the first time. Now if they did not provide the expedite/overnight like they said they would.. I would have complained too. And I would have had every right to do so. If Dell does not want to provide this... then just tell the customer no in the first place.

I'm pretty sure, judging from his response, he actually did receive next business day shipping. Either way, you're not entitled to more than anything other than what you've paid for. And if you do in fact feel like you do, then go call up Dell and use your energy more constructively by making a point and getting what you want. Dell is the easiest company to get what you want from.

Cluttering this forum with useless threads isn't going to get you next business day shipping.

I agree. But if a company voluntarilly says they will do this for you, then I think they should be accountable. If they don't want to.. they should just say you did not pay for overnight and we can't provide that for free. But in his case, as you say, it looks like he got it. And that is as it should be. But if he really got the overnight, then I agree that this thread is useless clutter.

Lol don't worry, I reported some of YLZ's posts, and a mod should be reading this very soon. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a temp ban or something.

I got a big ol' warning for saying a lot less, so with this kind of language he won't last long.

Must be those pre-teen hormones kicking in.

Report him, don't report him, that's your right. Usefulness of a thread is relative. Considering that this thread contains not one but two posts saying nothing but "I'm so sick of reading this thread!" I'm thinking that the original post def doesn't win the award for the most useless screed. Dell forum is updated five times a minute. You don't like what he wrote? Don't you worry, it'll be off the front page in about half an hour. Unless of course you bump it to tell us how stupid it is. And then do it again. Sirius.

Either way, I found this thread useful even if I didn't particularly like the overwrought language. (There was more than one poster here guilty of that, btw.) Dell promised me overnight shipping on my order too and I didn't think twice about it. Now that I know there might be a short circuit in the system, I'm gonna call them tomorrow to make sure that it's noted on my order. So, thanks OP.

So by ur beliefs, it's better to "forget" about something done bad by not ever bringing it up?

So if I kill someone, your ideology is "who cares, the family of the victim will forget about them in about half an hour, unless the cops are busy trying to find the killer, at which point the family would get reminded again". So let's let them forget, instead of trying to find the killer but at the same time "reminding " them of the act.

i havent read through all 4 pages and i dont plan to. With that being said, dell did not lie to you, god that word has been being thrown around a lot lately. You should still get next day delivery, just take a breather and check again. The estimated arrival date will be 3-7ish days ahead, but the shipping method should say next day delivery, and if you check the tracking number it should say next day delivery. Don't spaz out just yet.

Oh cool I love arugments like this! You took what I said which applies to a fairly specific situation and instead of arguing that (cause you can't really. I am right.) you instead went in the direction of reductio ad absurdum. Although, I think you didn't reduce far enough. Hey, go for broke. See how my arguments stand up in situations like war between nations, or nuclear disarmament treaties, or the meaning of love. Murder? Psaw, murder is for unambitious.

First, just because it's free it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. If it influenced his choice when purchasing Dell then it's important. For example, what if Dell gave you a FREE upgrade from 1GB to 2GB, then you'd expect them to keep that promise.

Also, I think everyone here deserves their Dell to be ship relatively on time, plus or minus 2 Business Days, not several weeks later. Dell should offer compensation.

Maybe I'm bumping it so the mods can delete this thread. There are many different people on this site that do not appreciate cursing. Every single one of his thread is filled with curses. I'm still sure that he got NBD shipping, but changed his signature because he can't accept that he's a hot headed child who is wrong.
