(Ah Subject type-o, I meant to put "its")
Full Hi Definition, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD (1920x1200) & 2.0 M
It's $150 more.
Pretty good deal with that $599 off.
I am about to order it myself. I also get an additional $216.60 off with my moms Government job.

I wonder what types of screens these will be...Samsung...LG?
-
Hopefully they have learned from past mistakes and improved it.
-
All I have to say is why?

it's only 50 bucks more than the 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050) so what the hell.
-
It's great that they're offering the choice of a 1920x1200 screen, but I don't think I could handle that much resolution on a 15.4" screen. My WSXGA+ screen is just right for my Inspiron 1520.
-
WOW, that would be an intense resolution.
-
Good for Blu-ray, bad for everything else. Unless we could finally get a resolution-independent OS.
-
I've always wanted a 15" laptop with WUXGA, shame I'm too broke to buy another M1530.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I could not go any higher than WSXGA+. I think WSXGA+ is even too high for many people on a 15" notebook. WUXGA would be like reading micro fonts. Granted you can go in and change your icon & font sizes from defaults but it's too much work IMO. I wonder how many people would actually order this?
-
That is a tight resolution on a screen that size. WUXGA works well on my 17", I'd not enjoy actually working with it on a 15".
Good for HD films, but too tight for actual usage IMO. -
-
it's hard enough finding a nice desktop wallpaper for 1440x900. i've been searching for days for good ones but there are very few (except for landscapes and sunsets) that are in 1440x900 widescreen.

I was just deciding if 1680x1050 would be too small for me. I like the higher resolution because it looks better than just a standard basic laptop you find but I think the WUXGA would not work out too well.
-
^IMO, 1920x1200 is spot-on for 17". 1680x1050 may be slightly pushing it on a 15". but it would be only marginally smaller than 1440x900.
Take a sheet of paper, and print a page of text in a landscape orientation with a font size of 9(I'm guessing here). Now, take that sheet to a photocopier, and reduce it by 17%. Put the two side by side, and that'll probably(possibly?) give an indication of how the difference will be in actual use.
You'll have 17% more space on the screen, but everything will be small by the same proportion.
Different people have different eyes, and like/dislike different sizes of fonts/icons/text/etc on their screen. By far the best way for you to judge it would be to compare the two directly, but this isn't always possible... -

Yeah, I never knew till I started looking up laptops last year that you could have different lcd resolutions at the same physical size. I figured the 19" wide is 1440x900 and the 20" is 1680x1050 and the 24" is 1920x1200. Of course it looks worse to run 1440x900 on a 1680x1050 than a 1440x900 on a 1440x900 right?
-
^Yes, but it's far less nasty on the eye than panels from a decade ago.
Personally, I've got young eyes which tend to function well. I find the extra real estate from the higher resolution invaluable. I'd be ordering the highest resolution screen I thought I'd be comfortable with, and if it was too small, I'd try it at the lower resolution. If I didn't like it, I'd probably return the machine and order one with a lower-specification screen.
It's funny though, most people tend to adjust to having a higher-resolution screen, and despite everything being somewhat smaller, it begins to feel 'right' ever so quickly. -
If you don't like the screen size at 1920x1200 you can always adjust it to a lower resolution.

I'm game for giving it a try, and I'm within my 21 days on my third machine. I finally got an LG, but the build I got sucked. Plus, My LG has a dead pixel...
How bad can it be? It's available on the Alienware 15.4" laptops. I'm just going to check with those guys. -
LOL...i thought 1680x1050 was small...but this is just WOW...micro sized text
-
I think my font size on my 1680x1050 is a little bit too BIG......
-
1680x1050 is perfect for 15"
1920x1200 (Full HD) looks like a dream
Q: How can I discover that a LCD screen is LED or CCFL ?
for example my screen is LPLF300 -
-
Is there LG LED WSXGA+ ?
