Does anyone here own one yet? Have they even started shipping? If so, does anyone actually have an owners review of the 8800gtx sli?

Sorry for the "noob" like questions, I've been away for the last month for work and have missed out on alot in the world of notebooks!

Hey dennis1985...yep I have one! It came this past Monday. So I've been using it for a week now and I have to say it's awesome and I love it and am very impressed. I pretty much maxed it out with 4GB RAM, RAID-0 7200rpm hard drive, Blu-ray burner, T9300 Penryn processor, of course the 8800 SLI, and I even got Wireless USB! I was bummed to find out the range of Wireless USB is like only 15 feet...so the hub keeps losing the connection to the laptop.

It cost a lot of money but I have never felt so good about a technology purchase before...the machine flies, is very quiet, and has amazing power. The screen is beautiful as well. I was actually in the Alienware camp and thinking about the M15x or M17x (which by the way still hasn't been released) and I'm glad I went with the XPS 1730. I would certainly recommend the XPS M1730 to others...I haven't done a full review or anything but if you have any questions I can try my best to answer them.

The one issue I had was Dell MediaDirect didn't seem to come with the ability to play Blu-ray discs. So I had to spring for the Cyberlink Ultra software in order to view Blu-ray. Also SLI didn't come turned on by default and actually froze Vista when I tried to restart after enabling. I had to enable the "Show SLI Indicator" (which is hidden in the NVIDIA control panel menu up top) in order to finally believe I was running in SLI.

Does it still have issues with SLI with Nvidia's new Beta noetbook drivers?

I'm fairly close to ordering one of these too. Wish they were cheaper!

I'm hoping it can stand up to having the CPUs run at 100% all the time from Folding @ Home.
