    Hello,

My dell inspiron e1405 (the 14.1" model) was purchased about 8 months and has been working like a dream for basic tasks, but I cannot seem to get the media direct function to work. The cause of this is actually my fault, i reformatted the laptop as soon as i got it right after purchasing and attempted (but failed) to correctly re-setup the media direct function and just eventually gave up.

Thanks for any assistance possible! I would really like to get this baby running as it should before my 24+ hours of traveling coming up in a couple of weeks!

Do you know if you have MediaDirect 2 or 3?
Do you have a copy of the MediaDirect Reinstall disc?

I do not have the reinstall disk. I asked dell for all the software and they never sent it to me so I decided to come here before spending tons of time trying to deal with them again.

Have you tried the MediaDirect 2 repair utility you can download from Dell?

I'd probably say the best place for you to find it is on your original build sheet available at Dell.com.

Make sure you don't run the MediaDirect 2 repair utility on a MD 3 installation. It will render your Windows drive unbootable and you will either have to reinstall Windows or manually rewrite the boot table.
