Dell messed up my order, and after 5 hours of talking with them to resolve something, i scored myself a free upgrade up to 600 bucks.. So what should i get?
i) 2.0ghz upgrade to 2.33ghz?
ii) 1gb ram upgrade to 2gb ram?
iii) 1gb ram upgrade to 2gb ram and have blue tooth?

I vote option iii
I don't think that 2.0 to 2.33 GHZ increase will be as impactual as the 2GB of RAM and bluetooth.

option 3 is obviously better than 2, so you have to choose between 1 and 3
you should probably go for the processor upgrade since it is the closer to a 600 dollar purchase
a gig of ram can be purchased elsewhere for less than $100 and if you really need bluetooth you can get a usb dongle for less than $10
and what bob says is true, but you're getting closer to that $600 figure dell says with the processor upgrade -
If you can install the Ram later yourself then definitely go with the processor, otherwise go with the ram+bluetooth
-
will installing ram later void my warranty? -
no it will not
-
I would also go with the cpu upgrade as you can upgrade your ram yourself at a cheaper cost
-
-
defiinately option 3, there wont be much difference between a 2.0 ghz and a 2.33 ghz, and there is a pretty big difference between 1gb and 2gb ram, and of course bluetooth is an extra bonus
-
I would go with the processor.

i would go with the processor upgrade. While I agree with others on the impact it will have the main thing to remember is that you can't upgrade the processor on your own without voiding the warranty. However you can upgrade the ram and install the bluetooth on your own. Depending on the laptop, there are internal adapters that you can order from Dell and install yourself.

Dude, totally go with the RAM+Bluetooth. Yeah, the processor upgrade may be worth more and you can't upgrade the processor later. But you're running a 2GHz Core 2 Duo. That's a hell of a processor. You will notice a MUCH bigger difference from 2GB of RAM than you will from the extra speed of the processor for the next couple of years. Yeah, you can upgrade the RAM later. But why spend that money if Dell will spend it for you? You can get a really nice machine now for the same price or get a really fast processor that you won't need and spend an extra couple of hundred bucks to add RAM and Bluetooth later to have basically the same machine. Not to mention, memory prices are really high right now, and you're gonna have to buy 2 gigs of RAM, not just 1, because your computer will ship with two 512MB sticks. And good luck getting rid of those in the future.

I would have to go with the processor upgrade. You can throw away the memory and upgrade to 2 gig for $130 to $160. Mine was high at $160 but sold old ram for $40 used. Dell's ram is VERY expensive!
IMHO the processesor would weigh in more if you sold laptop later. -
Memory is cheap, bluetooth is cheap, CPU'S ARE EXPENSIVE! go for the CPU, buy the memory some where else, and the dell 355 on ebay.
Dell messed up my order so what should i take?
