So we got a couple of free dell minis at work today and i must say nice! very similar to the acer aspire one in terms of build quality. Any rate, while my boss was discussing getting a usb dongle for wireless internet (like att, sprint etc) i remembered it had a wwan slot on the bottom. Pulled out the battery - there was the sim slot, sweet - pulled off the bottom cover and there was the wwan slot - sweet, but wait! The port was not soldered to the motherboard! The solder points are there but its not soldered and there are no antennas.

My guess is the only way you can get it is to order it through dell with that wwan card already installed, is this correct?

BTW this was the current high end model of like last month (1gb, xp, 16gb ssd)

Call Dell and tell them the situation... Maybe they would solder it for you?

No see that guy at least has the port. Ours is not only missing the posts but the port too! You just see empty solder leads on the motherboard there.

oh i must have missed that part. Seems like such a cheap part that you would think dell would put in. But i guess it goes along the same lines as removing agp slots from mobos and same thing with sata ports etc.
