This is interesting; I'd love to see a "DellBook Air"...
-
Yeah, it just wont have a keyboard or screen this time!
-
You're going to have to explain this one...

Dell book Air lol

Yep, both of these are nothing more but repeats/cut-and-pastes of the information from the original NYT article I linked in my post. -
I'm aware, just linking to blogs that will have theories in the comments, or maybe new information.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
But this thread is in the more appropriate area, we don't know if it will be a business laptop yet. I fail again for not searching in depth enough.
-
In any case, I may be in the market for something like that.
All I want is the power of an M6400 in the form factor of a MacBook Air, that's all
Seriously, I've been thinking about getting a MacBook Air, wiping the hard drive and installing Vista, but decided that that would be pushing it... So, if I can get a decent machine like that from Dell, I'll buy. -
Yup, I'm going to be in the market for something like that soon as well.
Also, the Engadget comments have uncovered some stuff about this laptop. Search (CTRL + F) for "ridestp" in the comments. -
It will be called the 'Adamo Thirteen'. A 13" ultra-thin notebook:
http://electric-echoes.blogspot.com/ -
Yeah, that site just stole from the comments on Endadget
Read my above post and you can find more information about it.
-
Yeah, I agree -- that topic should be moved here and merged with this one.
-
Hah, nice finds! This looks like the Adamo 13 may be out soon; and include an internal slot-load BluRay drive. -
If it's as thin and unpractical as the Macbook Air, then I'm kinda dissapointed in Dell. I personally don't see any appeal in the Air, but then again I've always liked Dell notebooks. Let's see what they'll come up with.
And instead of leaking this Dell Adamo stuff, why won't dell just leak some new XPS pics and specs.
Praying for CES to be a good time to look at Dell's news -
It seems to pre-date it, so im not sure how it is stolen.
And there is some stuff on bbs.gaodi.net about the XPS Adamo 13 posted over a month ago.
http://bbs.gaodi.net/thread-8437-1-1.html
I guess they stole from todays Engaget comments too... -
Maybe they'll unveil it at CES with a 16" XPS.
I'm getting a feeling the Adamo might be something of a size of the HP Voodoo 13" notebook. It's fairly thin, but still practical. And by the looks of the comments on engadget, it seems the Adamo has an optical drive... -
-
Nice to see...Is Dell finally ready to step up to the plate? And, prove their place to the competition??
-
Minor new info from the XPS 13 unveiling at Engadget:

-
Should be interesting. Depending on the looks and whether or not it has a 9400, I may get this instead of waiting for the Envy refresh. -
-
This is gonna be a pretty sweet notebook.
Dell just needs to release some *concrete* info now.
But that will be with bated breath..as they like leaving us all hanging!
And, this thread is nice, its so much better than having multiple threads spread all over the Dell forum's, on the topic at hand!!!

So basically Dell is following Apple (MB/MBA) & Sony (SR/Z). Actually Dell will have three 13" notebooks. So if you're low on funds & want a no-frills notebook, it's the Inspiron 13. If you want something more with a discrete GPU/blu-ray, it's the Studio XPS 13. If you want something like the MBA but with a lower price, it's the Adamo 13.
-
That actually makes some sense.

LOL.. I dont know if Adamo will have an internal optical drive (Most likely not) but I would totally get it if it did!! (vs the Studio XPS 13)

So NBR already has information about Dell Adamo:
Screen Size: 13.3 inches
Weight: 2.6 lbs
Processor Options: Core 2 Duo
Graphics Options: Integrated
http://www.notebookreview.com/price/default.asp?productFamilyID=1310&ref=list&display=priceDetail
I wonder where they got that, especially the weight. -
Nice find, I too wonder where they got their information.
-
They do have good connections with Dell I believe so who knows...

The Z is pretty thick, but for a good reason. It has excellent airflow and cooling. -
I (very) highly doubt the Adamo will have an internal optical drive. If you look at the "info from the website" and go to the link that shows the optical drive for the Adamo you will also see an optical drive for the Dell E4200 with an identical photo. Since the E4200 does not have an optical bay and the photos looks the same I would say that this is an optical drive for an external bay.
It also wouldn't make sense from a product line standpoint because Dell already has the E4300 and now XPS Studio 13 notebooks which cover the business and consumer side respectively at the 13" level and both have internal optical drives.
Based on the buzz and initial rumors it seems that Dell is trying to impress with thinness and compete with the Macbook Air. This would not be possible with an internal optical drive.
If we also look at the new info from NBR with a 2.6lb weight rating and compare to E4200 (no optical drive @ 2.2lb with 4cell and 2.6lb with 6cell battery) and E4300 (w/optical drive @ 3.4lb with 4cell and 3.8lb with 6cell battery) it looks like the most logical outcome would be a 13.3" form factor without an optical drive.
I'm in the market for a new notebook and I've been eyeing the E4200 and E4300 and following the threads (and seriously when is a publication going to put a review out, for the love of god it's taking forever) and now the Adamo is in the running as well. Not sure if I can wait till Feb but if more concrete details are unveiled and it has more than one USB port (not to knock the MBA cause I realize it has a market and I think it is a great product and just ordered one for my sister, but it would be nice to have a few more ports) I may have to just wait for it. If the Adamo could dock on an E-series latitude dock I would put my deposit down right now and wouldn't mind a dearth of ports, Dell are you listening? -
I'm pretty sure you won't have to wait until February for more concrete info, given that CES is right around the corner.
And one thing on Dell's site specifically said internal super drive. It's on the Engadget comments. Maybe it's a mistype, though. -
It's up to Dell per usual!

It's basically the same thing as the previous post, and that image was made by Engadget
Engadget also has a story about it's power adapter being 45W. Nothing big there. -

I'm aware -- we've known that since this was announced

Totally random thought, but you think this photo Engadget leaded back last January might be of the Adamo? I've just assumed it was a design for the E4200 that fell through, but a closer look and it's not a 12 inch laptop (keyboard doesn't stretch across the whole laptop). And surely it can't be the E4300 or any other Latitude, they're nowhere near that thin. I know it's unlikely, but what do y'all think?

Very nice, if true. The previous poster before yours is very alarming to me... it may cost $3,000?! Not too smart in the current economy, Dell...
