Dell notebook ordering from outside of the USA

Hello all,

I would like to purchase the Dell Inspiron 9100 Notebook customized online (total price is $1,338) at the Dell Online Store using my own credit card (I am a citizen of and permanent resident in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the former Soviet Union). Being a non-US citizen, am I eligible to order DELL products online. If yes, how can I get the products ordered?
In the mean time, I would like to take advantage of the opportunity of my mothers' oncoming visit to the USA to get the notebook ordered. She is going to attend an International Conference in Long Beach, Ca in the end of March 2004.

Since DELL does not ship any order to a Hotel or P.O. Box address, can I indicate my friends' address (in Los-Angeles, Ca) when placing an order for a notebook online for my mother to pick it up?

Can somebody advise me of the appropriate (and, what is more important, legal) way to order the notebook mentioned. Will my mother need to hold any supporting documents (or receipts) for the customs formalities clearance purposes?

hmm, when you buy a Dell computer online you have to agree to a term that says you will not export the product outside of the United States (there's a checkbox during the online checkout process that asks you this question). I've always wondered what would happen if you checked the "Yes" to exporting it outside the U.S. option.

In Dell's FAQ section the only thing they state is:

Q I am a resident of a foreign country and/or I will be exporting my system outside of the United States. Where can I obtain further information?

A Located on our home page, in the upper left hand side, is an option that will allow you to choose a country that is specific to your needs. Click here to go directly to Dell's home page.

But on the home page Kazakhstan is not an option. Might want to send their customer support an email.

 

How good a friend is he or she? You could have your friend order and pay for the laptop with their own card. Then, when your mother arrives, she can just give them cash and bring back the laptop for you. It could be classified as used. I don't know how bringing goods in and out of your country is, but last time I traveled, albeit, to Canada, no one questioned the laptop I was carrying.[ ]

Im also kinda wondering the same question.... cuz I along the boarder in Canada. If i buy the 9300 in Canada it costs me 2489 dollars for a system... or 2126 for an even better set up(like 1800 CAD for same). Canada has WEAK coupons and it dosnt look like they will be gettin any 900$(CAD) off coupons so do u have to buy it with an american credit card? inorder to have it delieverd in the us? I might be able to find a person to deliver it too... but if they have to pay... that could be a problem [^]

On Dell Forums, a dell moderator said that if you don't have a US credit card, you could phone them up for your order. But I don't know whether you will still get the "online" discount. I'm still wondering whether "border-canadians" are exempt from this "Export Intent" law if they use the laptop for personal use.

Let me know if you hear more about this.

 

I ordered right now a laptop on US Dell website, I live in Czech Republic and here are Dell laptops approx. 2x more expensive than laptops in United States. My brother who lives in US ordered it for me and I told him, that he should check that box "I will export product outside of US...", becasue I want to transfer the warranty from US to my country, after few days, as the laptop arrive, I will tell you my experience
