I'm closing in on the XPS M1210. With all the extra gear (WAN,Wi Fi, LAN, A/V package, Blue Tooth, etc) I don't expect smooth sailing at the first stages of the game.
Dell is offering a 24/7 dedicated phone tech support for a year (on top of the free initial 30 days ) for an extra $150. It's limited to 5 incidents.
Does any one have an experience with this service?
Are the techies at Dell worth anything? My limited experience is that the first tier isn't too bright. They can't even read from the screen the full details of my order info... (Just bought a Dell color laser printer.)

it might be worthwhile... If your laptop breaks and you have an extended warranty, than dell will still be obligated to fix it. I have the 3 year NBD warranty. It gives me that extra piece of mind aswell.

On Call is different from CC/Accidental breakage. I'd say don't bother. Most people here are more knowledgable about Dells and willing to help. For free.

    enjoy your laptop

Dell on call is a service for spyware and virus issues mostly. But they also provide other support that regular warranty support doesnt cover
