How often can we expect Dell or Windows update to release new graphic drivers for the 8600M GT? (vista)

Does anyone know when the next release will be?

    currently using 156.69

Don't bother waiting. They are always far behind. The newest one is 169.04, install it using "have disk" and select 8600gt (not 8600m gt), no difference (that I have noticed). You can also get modded versions from www.laptopvideo2go.com

The "have disk" method is just a way of installing video card drivers using the Device manager.
Here is a Guide with pictures from Lv2go:
    Have-Disk method for Windows Vista

And search around for what drivers people recommend.

There's a dedicated thread in the gaming forum regarding the best drivers for the 8600GT. Right now I'm using the 169.01 version which was apparently optimised for Crysis and lots of people think it's a great driver.

go to laptopvideo2go.com, go to the forums, and look for the "have disk" method guide. it's really simple, you just have to follow directions.
