12/2/11 I placed a order online with dell outlet using a 15% off discount coupon for a computer that is a Christmas gift for my wife.
Order went thru and the system showed in Production for several days. Then I received a Email that the system was no longer available and the order was cancelled. Email exchanged with Dell customer service and I was told to reorder the system and they would apply the 15% discount that I originally had. Problem was Dell outlet didn't have the same configuration available and what they did have was much higher priced than the one I had originally ordered. Found a higher priced different model that I felt would work and thru Dell Outlet Chat tried to order it. They however could not find where Dell promised me the 15% discount. The computer was placed on hold and I was told to forward the email I received from Dell and they would process the order. Did that but the next day they replied and said it was a different department that told me they would give me the 15% discount and that their Department could not apply it to my replacement order. Contacted the original rep and they said order the computer and they would give me a 15% refund when it shipped. Back to dell outlet and the system they put on hold for me can't be found and nothing else is available close to what I wanted at the same price.
I keep checking dell outlet daily and find another computer a few days latter that is close to what I want so I order it and it shows in production and will ship in two days. The day it is to ship I get a email that the order is delayed and won't arrive untill Dec 26 but they will send a card to my wife that the system is ordered and coming.
Next day I get a your order is cancelled because a component is not available email.
I have been working with the Same Customer service rep from India from the beginning so I call him but always only get his voice mail. Send him a email and a day latter get a response that Dell is sorry and quotes policy about Dell being able to delay and cancel orders depending on conditions. It's like he has totally forgotten all the history I have had with him over the first order that was cancelled. I respond and remind him that this is the second dell outlet order that has been cancelled and I have been trying to purchase a computer for my wife as a Christmas gift all month.
He responds so sorry and would like to give me a 10% discount on a replacement order. I replied that I was suppose to be getting a 15% so did that mean I would now be getting 25%
The reply said they would give me 15% and I should reorder the computer
and they would refund me 15% after it ships.
All these emails I receive from this same Rep are canned responses,Copy and paste and it seems like i'm dealing with a computer generated response system. I ask to be contacted by a manager but receive the same canned response from him.
I keep calling and checking Dell outlet but nothing is available that meets my original configuration in the same price range. I see computers that have the same parts but they are much higher priced than when I ordered.
What I don't get is Dell outlet is suppose to be refurbished, scratch & dent or new systems that are already built and ready to ship.
If it shows up on Dell outlet it should be ready to ship but they keep claiming that during production a part is not available and they have to cancel the order.
I remember Dell from when they were a raising star in the computer business and have purchased five computers From them over the last 10 years.
They have really fallen over the years and I nolonger have any faith in them.
If I have this much trouble just trying to purchase a computer from them what can i expect if i have a warranty issue?
This experience has been a wakeup call for me to stay away from Dell.

Jtravel, on behalf of Dell-I'm deeply sorry for this poor experience. I am forwarding this to our Customer Care team. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to amend this issue.

I guess this is subjective, but I've never had any problems from the Dell Outlet. None at all, in fact. All my orders are charged out and shipped promptly... and I've done several now.

I always order online also, never by phone... IDK what is happening with your orders.

Dear Mourin, I cannot PM you, so I try this way. I'm having the same trouble of getting laptop from dell outlet. Costumer service I'm dealing with is very unhelpfull. My order was cancelled for no reason and they said they would reorder it. But new order was cancelled as well. My money are on hold so I cannot use them and I'm without laptop as well. I totally lost faith in dell and I'm so dissapointed that it's beyond describing by words. I wish you could help me.

I ordered a Latitude (and U2412M monitor) from the Outlet last Friday (9-27), and yesterday received an automated call that my unit was "back ordered" and wouldn't ship for a week. Like Jtravel said, since when is a refurbished unit, which is sitting in inventory and should be all checked out and ready to go, "back ordered"??
