Am seriously considering buying a lappy from the Dell outlet, but have a couple of questions. I plan on getting a 1705.
1) Im assuming that if Dell seells these computers they have been "certified", but just wondering what other peoples expericnnce has been when buyinh from here. Ami able to buy a 3yr warranty on it just like on the new ones? If so any difference?
2)I scanned a couple of sytems on there already and saw a cuple of things i am considering, But am unsure what OS to get. I know Vista is the future but XP is proven. Any thoughts?
3) Im assuming that since these are refurbished and returns shipping would be faster. Any truth to this?
Im sure ill have more questions but these would really help me out a ton.

1) you can get the extended warranty just like you would buy a new system. You will be that offered at the checkout page.
2) go with Vista as you will get all the necessary disks. If you don't like Vista you can alwas do a fresh install of XP if you has a Win XP CD.
when I purchased my M1210 from the Outlet it had Vista on it. I made an Image with Acronis True Image 10. After that I did a full format and installed XP Pro. I can always go back to Vista if I choose so.
Check the outlet several times a day as the inventory changes quite a bit. It saved me over $500 purchasing from the outlet.
good luck -
can anyone else comment on the refurbished qualities?
I've bought refurbised before (sony outlet) on an arm radio band..
thing broke pretty easily.. and i rarely used it..
Just worried about quality... -
BuonaDomenica was right. I agree because I have the same opinion. I ordered my M90 on saturday night and they shipped it monday morning. Therefore,
3) they ship alot faster, without the boxing testing processes.
For quality, I got mine as "Scratch and Dent" and it really has scratches (not dents tho) but functionality wise it works just like brand new. I saw a couple people here and in other forums got "like new" items from scratch and dents, so I can't tell you about the general quality standards. However, for the price that I paid (I searched for 3 weeks, every day went to the outlet section twice since they update the inventory very often and finally I got this one for very good price) I'm very happy with it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input so far, but heres another question
Vaitte- Im assuming that most of the scratches are on the panel behind the screen, Would of of those "Skinz" that dell sells cover that up?
Any one else with qualities experiences plz post up. -
1. I bought a certified refurbished m1210 from the outlet. It came in practically brand-new condition and the only damage I could find after careful scrutinizing it was a small hole in the windows xp sticker on the bottom.
2. I would probably recommend going with Vista as you can easily switch back to XP and have Vista for when you are ready to switch. However, as the outlet is, I found that my best deal was an m1210 loaded with XP, so that's what I ended up with.
3. I purchased my laptop on a Wednesday, and it shipped the next day (although I have heard if you order it earlier in the day, it will ship that day). It arrived the following Monday. It's actually quite fast and mine got stretched out longer because of the weekend. -

I have purchased two XPS M1210 from the outlet so far. One was Scratch & Dent and it was flawless. I could not find any scratch or flaw wiith the laptop. 2nd M1210 was Certified Refurbished but it had a mior scratch (paint chip) near the touch pad. I called Dell and withing two days the Technician was at my house and replaced the entire palm rest. I must say this it pretty good service from Dell.
If you don't like the laptop there is a 14 return policy if you purchase from the outlet.
I tell my friends now to check the outlet first when they considering a Dell. You can't beat the prices there.

noskillz - yes, all the scratches are on the lid because of that true aluminum cover get scratched easily. me too also think that the skins from the E1705 might work on the M90 because the size should be the same.
