I have had a bad experience with dell outlet and am weary of purchasing another unit...

Has anybody had any good experiences with the outlet and if so, what unit did you buy and for how much?

Bought the E6400 in my signature for $577, minus the SSD. That was actually my first Outlet experience, and it was a good one, though I've been buying from Dell for a long, long time. It was a very good price for a unit of that spec (almost half of the new price), the machine was like new (save for the refurbished sticker) and delivery was a matter of two or three days.

I bought an Inspiron 1520 and a Vostro 1310. One from the Home Section and one from the Business Section. I waited for a Laptop complete with WinXP [I don't do Vista] in both cases, having discrete Video and refurbished, rather than the scratch and dent option. I avoided previously ordered, as although I wanted features, I was also shopping price, and the refurbished seemed better priced. The filters and sorting for shopping are excellent, and you can shop from either site without some arbitrary rules or restrictions.

It took some weeks for the combination that I wanted to show up in both cases. I did wait too long in one case as the Laptop sold. But most combinations seem to show up randomly. Ordered over the phone and got great order support in both cases. Receipt of Laptop within two days in both cases. Refurb adds a sticker on the bottom of the Laptop, and the Vostro 1310 has a small dull area in the paint on the cover. The accessories shipped with the Laptop look new.

So the Laptop you want may take time to become available. The phone sales support is excellent, shipment is fast and the quality is great for the discounted price. Risks in purchase are minimal compared to other discount means of purchase, and you have a period of time allowed for return, in case you are disappointed. Be careful to look at all of the specs, as Dell can be dumping some "dogs" [slow selling] options in the Laptops mix.

I don't think that I would order a Laptop from Dell any other way again, due to the pricing advantages. Hope that helps...

Bought an Inspiron 15 and Inspiron 1525. Both came out good and as described with no problems.

I've bought TONS of computers from the outlet, and I've enjoyed every one. Even the Scratch & Dent's look like new or have a very very very very minor mark on the bottom.

I also enjoy the super fast shipping (usually 1 day for me but I'm near Nashville where they ship from). Either way, you don't have to wait for build-time.

Just recently picked up a XPS 13 for $656 shipped, about half of what it would have costed from Dell EPP.

I got my studio 15 for 569 including tax and shipping. I really enjoy it and I have had no problems with it. You can purchase the same warranties that are available with the new models. With that being said, I don't see why I would ever why buy a new one when I can pay 1000 bucks for a fully loaded laptop and a 4 year complete care warranty. :)

I have made several purchases at the Outlet over the last fourteen years. They have all been flawless transactions. My latest purchase was the Latitude E4200 and it was a stellar buy.

I just made my first outlet purchase, a Mini 10. Delivered 3 days after I placed the order. So far it`s perfect. Ordered as " previously ordered new" Based on this experience and most posts , I wouldn`t hesitate to order from the outlet again.
