Depending on what you signed up for. Yes there is interest, unless you signed up for no interest.

You can pay it all off up front when you get the first bill if you want. There is no prepayment penalty. I just signed up for the additional discount you get when purchasing with the account. I already have 2 checks made out to pay off my order in full, if I ever get it.

I wonder if they will take as long to ship the payment due invoice as they do to ship the computer I ordered?

It works just like a regular credit card that you can only use with Dell. The interest rates are high, and if you do not pay off your balance before the end of the promotional period you will be charged back interest on the entire amount. It can be great if you pay your balance off on time or a nightmare if you don't. By making the minimum payments, it will take you many, many years to pay off the account--you definitely want to pay more each month.
