I bought my M1330 last month at a price of 1,969.00 before taxes. The exact same system today is $1,749. That is exactly 30 days later.

Supply of parts and suppliers play a large roll. Other factors include supply and demand as well as the fact that the computer itself is becoming older.

Don't focus on the price; you'll just beat yourself up. Enjoy the computer for what it is.

Dell's economics and purchasing people are genius! Seriously.

Well, Dell's prices are increasing over here in Singapore and Malaysia though.

That's very common, laptop prices plummet in relation to time. I bought my G1s a few months ago for $1830, now they can be found for $14xx.

I didn't save the exact numbers, but it seems that the Vostro 1500 I was looking at is now $200 to $300 more expensive in Canada than it was 2 to 3weeks ago.

I guess I will wait until January, when hopefuilly prices will come down.

Yeah, it really depends on what you're buying. The config. i have made every month on the 1500/1520 since their launch has consistently been around $1500 cnd.
    T7300 - 8600GT - 2 gigs of ram - 160 gig hard drive - 1 year complete care
There are people here who have the same system in their sigs, with a price listed at around $1100, who ordered from Dell. COM.

You would think a company like dell would be able to scale their prices better then any other store(since they are always fluxuating anyways) yet they still show no sign of coming down on dell.ca. Prob. cause of greed, as there is no arguing they are making a solid 30% more buy selling to canadians, then americans...

I had put a post in stating the Dell was adjusting systems for the Canadian dollar about a week and a half ago after getting that from Dell. It appears also though that they are picking and choosing what to decrease as, yes, at least in the case of systems with specific items (ssds) prices have gone up to follow market pricing.

Hopefully, Dell's prices will come down in Canada when Lenovo opens its online configurator for Canada, reportedly on November 19. So far, Dell Canada has had a free ride because no one else offered an online configurator for Canada.

Yeah, i'm kinda surprised HP or Sony didnt step up first. I guess the canadian market isnt important to mainstream companies. Eh, i'm more then willing to pay extra for the T61 over a 1520, since i know that the premium is for the high build quality, and not because a companies too greedy to lower their prices because of lack of competition.

Do they? AFAIK, all their laptops are made in China. Manufacturing in Canada seems cost prohibitive to me.
