    Hi everyone,

I'm consider buying a dell due to a bad experience with my Asus A8js. This time I wanted to buy a business machine and decided for a Precision M2300 at Dell UK.
I would like to know what is your opinion regarding Dell's pricing policy. I believe they are now dumping existing stocks of Merom CPUs in order to prepare for the new Penryn. Is it normal for Dell to increase the prices after a cpu refresh or a platform change, or the prices stay the same but with the new hardware?
I know this is pure speculation but, if I wait until the Montevina refresh (by May/june) are prices bound to increase after the introduction of the new plaform? I'm sorry to be asking this type os questions, but I don't follow dell prices at all.

    Best,

You (and I) just missed the best discounts from the Jan Sales, prices are already pretty high and I wouldnt expect them to change significantly when Penryn finally makes an appearance (hopefully this week).

Yea prices should be around the same mark (granted a +/- 100-200 USD difference might be in play). Remember that Dell is constantly changing its pricing strategy but in the end, the base prices are roughly the same. What you should wait for is to gain the maximum discount for your configuration, which will end up varying each week. Also, you should checkout Flamenko's thread re: getting good deals with Dell...he has some useful advice.
