I received my notebook 3 days earlier than Dells's projections. I trust that is the same in your case.

In any event, congrats and enjoy!

Mine Dell i6k shipped out as originally projected by the production date. Check the status of your PC online. These computers are made out of Malasia so you will see it in 'boxing status' for 3 days as I presumed it is en route to the Dell shipping area.

When I ordered my HP I RECEIVED it 1 day after the projected production date.

Argh the wait is horrible isnt it! Granted, your 45 day wait sounds far more excruciating than my two weeks, but all in all, waiting sucks.

I think what makes it extra difficult is that most of us probably spend alot of hours/days/weeks/months (about 4 months for me) searching for the right desktop/notebook... and then, when you finall fork over the cash, you want it right away... but alas, you must wait.

    Heres to impatience...

Haha I cant wait to actually play games on my computer again, last game my current machine could handle was Half Life back in '99.

Well, i think dell is saying middle april from today for the XPS2 ( going to buy one tonight)
Dell doesnt want to run out, because they probobly released it early before they stacked up on Parts, but yes, i have bought the Dell Dimension XPS, and came a few days before. like 7 says different than they projected.

PS- Hoping the XPS2 is wrong because i cannot wait 1.5 LONG months.

5 days passed, still in pre-production. Count the total waiting time, not other things, cuz they can give u 3 weeks estimate, then send u a day b4 that date(is it better than 2 weeks estimate and arrive on time?). BTW, It says they gonna ship my i6000 on 3/9, that is longgg...

My experience is that they quote the worst case. I would prefer they quote what they believe to be the best guess but they don't. This is probably because they don't want people calling them if the date slips. The downside is it could come early when you are not expecting it and possible not home to receive the package.

Hey guys. I ordered my 6000d with 128 video card on Tuesday with a projected shipping date being march 9. It is already in the boxing stage, so I am pretty sure that it will ship this week: a week earlier than projected.

Shipping was a bit of a nightmare for me with my new XPS. I had ordered online, received the email telling me where to see the order status. When I went to view the status, it showed no record of my order.

A few days later it was still unavailable online, so I called Dell and asked them about the status. I was told the system was in production.

A few days later, I was getting a little inpatient and the online status was still unavailable. So I called Dell again to find that they were short a part and my system would be delayed an extra two weeks.

The next morning, I sent out a professional email to the customer service department voicing my complaint about the order status and the delay in my order. I also took a moment to throw in an off-handed comment about how I hoped the machine was better than the service I was getting from Dell.

A few hours later I had an email saying my order was shipped and the online status was working. My system ended up arriving only 1 day late instead of two weeks.

I read about some guy in California (where I live) who lived near enough to a warehouse that his shipments came nearly overnight. Any idea if there is a warehouse anywhere near Pasadena, CA ?

    Jeez I'm impatient...

    Hi,
I ordered my I6000, on Feb 25th and the expected shipping date is 14th march...the delay obviously is because of the the graphics card.

What stumbles me is why does Dell have to put the systems in malaysia? Dont they have a Production centre atleast in USA or are they shipping locally itself and not from malay/singapore?

    Thanks

    -Mad

Hey guys - just thought Id let you know, if the website is just saying that yours is "InProduction" or gasp even, "PreProduction" with no explanation.... I suggest you call the Order Status Line.. 1-800-624-9897, after entering my Order number I was informed that my i6000d is in fact in the build stage [ :D] though the website tells me its simply inproduction. So, for those of us who are impatient... heres another little way to kill time and possibly find out a little more on your notebook's status.

Not sure if you guys know but the boxing stages means the time it takes for the computer to be airshipped from Malaysia to Nashville, TN. I learned this from another forum, most, if not all of Dells systems are now produced there. However, when i received my shipment, it got here in less than 6 days. The shipping label says Austin, TX. Not sure, can anyone clarify on how dell works its shipping?

I kept my order despite the coupon as with the budget I have the 35% off could've gotten a free case or something but its no big deal for me (I used the $750 off coupon to order).

I ordered on the 28th, and it is now shipped. My original estimate was March 16-18 or something that like that, but then it got upgraded to March 11, and now it says on the UPS site that my delivery date is going to be Monday March 7th, so I'm happy.

    I ordered the 6000d.

I actually just canceled my original order earlier tonight, because with the current 35% coupon, I was able to upgrade to a 1.6ghz/533FSB processor and a WSXGA screen for a grand total of only 70 dollars more (and i got free 2nd day shipping!)

Spade i don't see the purpose to your post, also how is getting a 35% coupon off a system that has most the latest and best options available a bad deal? So if you got a coupon for 3000 dollars off a car you wouldn't take it? Makes no sense to me...

maverick, it won't ship atlest until eary april. When the offer became available it was too just show you whats coming, no one has got one yet, and i don't think anyone has a ship date in March for a XPS 2 but i could be wrong.

Also on a side note, anyones I9300 just sitting in production? Mine has been in the build stage since the 2nd day of my order, 3/9/2005. It's supposed to ship on monday, 3/21/2005, but im having doubts. I called Dell they said everythign is on schedule, so we will see. That means to ship on monday it will have to be boxed and most likely leaving Malaysia tomorrow night. If my ship date gets pushed back, im going to try and get a better shipping deal to make up for it, maybe overnight shipping [ :D]

Six days, sitting at Production level. The Dell forums claim either the video cards or the TrueLife screens are the hold-up. Why can't Dell send their customers an email message, nicely explaining the delay and new estimated ship date. Anything would help. I can't stand going into the Order Status and seeing NO CHANGE. This is poor customer service, in my opinion.

No one talks much about Gateway... but I'm using a 10 year old desktop and have NEVER had a single problem with it, or with Gateway service. I used to do some tech support for a small business that had 5 Gateways, and when I needed something from them, they would ship a replacement part overnight, no questions asked. And when I called support, they were well-informed and skilled.

I have called Dell about 5 times, and I don't think I can take much more. I don't care how good the 9300 might be... if their customer support is this crappy, I might look elsewhere.

    Argghghghghg![ :(!]

well just an update, looks like my I9300 i order on 3/8/05 will be delayed. Its supposed to ship tomorrow, 3/21/05/ but its still in production. I called Dell and the customer service representive told me the delays on the I9300's are the lack of Nvidia 6800 go cards. She said tomorrow i would get an email letting me know how long my delay would be, she couldn't tell me yet. Also i searched around on Dell's support forums about tracking numbers and orders and came across some posts saying the same thing, that the 6800 is the reason for the delays on the I9300's. So once i receive my delay email, going to call Dell up and see if i can get some kind of rebate out of them, threaten to cancel my order or atleast get free overnight shipping! When you order a refurb, they don't ship from maylasia -> nashville, do they? I would imagine they would just ship from somewhere in the US... thus being a bit quicker. Anyone had any experience with this?

It is definitely the graphics card causing the delay. Several people on the Dell forums are saying they wish they had been told, and they could've had an option to downgrade a little instead of wait.

you know i really didn't need this notebook that bad, since i have a good desktop to hold me over but what gets me is that, this whole time my system is in preproduction, up to this day 3/21/05 when my system was supposed to ship. Now on this day it actually reaches the testing stage... Thats just some lame crap in my opinion. So my guess is early next week i will have my system. Still emailed dell about a discount for the late shipping, we will see what happens [ :D]

I ordered my 9300 on 12 Mar and it was suppose to ship on the 24th. I checked it a few days later and they shipped it on the 16th and it arrived on the 18th by UPS. It doesn't get much better than that. Mine has a 6800 in it too.
I'm in the Air Force and my Dad is shipping it here to me while I'm deployed. I'm in the Middle East. Should get it any day now. I also emailed Dell on what version of memory is on the 6800 in my 9300. He fianlly fessed up after a couple emails giving me the run around and told me that it has the GDDR1 in it. He also told me that the is compatability issues with using the GDDR3 in the Dell systems. I said the XPS2 has the GDDR3 in it doesn't it? And thats the same motherboard that the 9300 has right? He never replied back to me after that. LOL

After several negative postings on Dell's forum, one of their moderators informed me that my order was in production. When I checked on it yesterday afternoon, it was in testing. The moderator also said that it was on schedule for shipping. I told her if that is true, I will be thrilled! She checked into the delays, and said that there was no explanation or particular part to "blame" for the delays (although others have been told it was the 6800 graphics card).

Status this morning says the order is in Boxing. [ :)] Perhaps I WILL get it by the end of the month after all.

I ordered my 9300 on March 8th, 22 days ago. J[V]ust got an email saying it'll be closer to 4 weeks before it ships. I had a nice chat going with "Pradeepath, but please call me Peter", but we either got disconnected or he hung up on me when I asked for an explanation of the delay. Don't hold your breath.
