Hey guys
I was wondering a couple questions.
I have just bought a 2gb ram from dell as my 1530 only has 2gb ram, and I wanted 3 as vista 32 will only see about 3gb ram.
Are dell ram's any good and also does anyone know the latency on them if that makes a huge difference.
Thanks, Paid £26.00=$50.00, so really good for uk prices.
If you have done this yourself how long was it for delivery as well,
Thanks again, sorry also if I put the memory in myself and it is dell's own memory will this invalidate my warranty?
-
i wouldn't think Ram would invalidate your warranty, as it's one of the more easy to do components, especially if it's dells own brand, when putting in ram you just have to make extra careful not to damage the modules via static electricity by properly grounding yourself, using anti static tools, and avoid touching any connectors with your fingers etc.
as for the quality of dell's ram, i can't testify as i've no experience with it as of yet, but i think the main reason people say to go elsewhere for upgrades is because you can get it far cheaper on alot of us sites (like newegg.com), unfortunatley for those of us in the UK, they don't seem to deliver overseas.. -
Thanks dude would not have thought upgrading memory would void any warrant.
Hopefully now i will get better performance from vista and gaming -
When I upgraded my RAM I found one stick of Kingston & one stick of no name in my XPS M1530 from Dell.
Buy the RAM from a 3rd party vendor, too expensive from Dell. -
Hey fiveo
I thought £26.00 was really good as it cost £50.00 for 4gb kit (corsair)
Unless you buy on e-bay, but I do not like the returns policy on some of these people selling them for £45.00 for the 4gb kit as they say if anything wrong I have to go to the manufacturer.
Plus £26.00 was for delivery as well, so all in all would rather matching pairs, and at a good price. -
In the US, it's usually $60-$80 per 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), so your price is really not terrible, even as compared to US prices, especially since you also should have your Dell warranty coverage on the RAM since you bought Dell RAM for a Dell system.
I highly doubt you'll get performance RAM, but Dell's RAM should be at least as good as a typical off-the-shelf Kingston/Crucial/Corsair ValueSelect, et al. -
Hey
So will I see more speed when it comes to vista.
And also will it improve gaming.
Am going from 2gb to 3gb dell ram -
Yes it will definitely improve Vista and gaming.
Dell ram?
