Yowser. The price drop is nice but I got mine when they were running the $500 off so my configuration still comes out 400-something dollars more than what I paid.

I still got a much better deal when I bought a Vostro 1700 last month with the $500 off select models and I just purchased a Vostro 1500 from the DeLL Outlet store. Even with the reduced prices both of my recent purchases would have cost me several hundred more.

Pixelot did you price out your recent purchase after the price reduction? :)

I got mines a few days ago and it is still a little bit cheaper. I guess it depends on what you choose for your laptop. Wish I was here for that $500 off coupon though >.<.

HELPPPP Im either getting a Vostro 1500 or a Vostro 1510. Im getting the Vostro because of the XP (if not it would be the inspiron 1520).

    My basics are :
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5670 (1.8GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor

However the problem is that the 1510 has integrated video, I would have to pay an additional $150. But I like it because is a bit lighter than the 1500, and its a brand new model.

My laptop is intended for office and home use. No gaming or DVDs.

Or should I get the Inspiron 1520????

thanks to all who can help.
    best,

I have bought 2 Vostro's a 1700 and recently a 1500 even though I knew about the 1310 and 1510, read the 1310 review. They look and feel cheap compared to the Vostro 1500. If you are not going to be doing any gaming then integrated graphics is more than enough.

I would still get the Vostro 1500 but that's just me.
