I have searched and have found nothing that pertains to these two topics together.

I am trying to get ahold of a Precision M65 on the outlet. The problem is that they are far and few between. I saw four on the site the other night, and within 5 minutes, they were gone.

Has anyone had any experience buying refurb'd laptops via ebay sellers? I have read the threads regarding buying ebay laptop, so I know that you want to buy from a reputable seller.

Also, the refurbs come with a 3 year warranty. Assuming that they have not had the refurbs for a while (they are still in the box unopened), will dell honor the warranty? I did read that you can get the service tag and call dell to make sure that the warranty is still transferrable.

The only reason that I would consider buying from ebay is the fact that i can actually get one on there versus just, by chance, landing one on the outlet. It is probably these sellers that scoop the machines up anyways.

    Cheers!

Dell will honor the warranty as long as the service code and express tag are valid. You'll have to transfer the warranty to your name.

Personally, I don't have any experience buying a laptop from eBay. Just make sure to get the service code and express code before purchasing.

I still think Outlet is the best way to go, but understand how hard it is to find the right deal on there.

Very tough to find M65s on Outlet. Took me several weeks of regular checking to get the right configuration, and usually there were no M65s at all. I guess you've already ruled out the Latitude D820. Plenty of those on Outlet.

I am getting one to replace my desktop. I run mostly solidworks and need something portable, hence the M65.

My only options for lappy's with cerified opengl solidworks graphics cards are:

    1) Dell M65
    2) Thinkpad Z61p
    3) HP NW8440

So getting it off ebay looks like the only easy way to find one. I will make sure that I get the service code and express code.

    Thanx
