This only reinforces my opinion that Western Digital is the best. I do hope this new Studio 1745 comes with Western Digital drives, and not Seagate. By now, Dell should know better than to send a computer with a Seagate in it...to this address.

HDD clicking issue is not entirely Seagate's. Some WD drives also make clicking noise (at least one of mine did).

Trust me, all brands out there will have HDDs that have clicking noises. Its not a brand thing, no company has a 100% good quality turnout. I once bought a 300gb Western Digital drive for my desktop pc, and it was the first out of 4 other drives that made a clicking noise, and it was the newest of them all too. It was cheap, but I figured maybe that was why. Weird thing is, the noise went away after a month and everything works as usual. But I won't be surprised if one day it just dies on me. I do prefer Western Digital over Seagate though, I have 2 others, but I won't say they're the best. Price wise, perhaps =P

I have 11 Western Digital hard drives. I've never experienced "clicking" or any other kind of problems. Most of them have been put them through hell with Acronis True Image restoring Images. The Diagnostic CD is the best, and most simple I've ever seen from any HDD manufacturer. I personally won't have anything besides WD. :)
