    Hi,
I have had my E1505 for a little over a year, and the screen is starting to get dead pixels. Their are 12 of them at the moment, mostly in three bunches, and a few outliers.
I was wondering what dells screen replacement entails?

Will they replace my screen cause I have dead pixels?

Also does the screen replacement require a guy to come over to the house, or do I have to ship the laptop back to Dell?

I am hoping its the first choice, cause I do not want a lot of down time.

Any people's experiences with dell screen replacement would also be greatly appreciated.

I just read through my warranty and it says nothing about dead pixels specifically. If you are still under warranty the best thing to do is just contact Dell. 12 dead pixels sounds like a defective product.

If you paid for Onsite service they will come to you. If you only paid for Return To Depot service then that's what you'll have to do. It depends what you bought.

    Okay,
I have Dell Complete Care until 6/5/2010
I also have tech support, NBD onsite + NW until 6/5/2010

So it sounds like they will come to my place to fix it.
I just need to find out if the screen is eligible for replacement.

Hopefully I can also ask them to upgrade me to a 1680x1050 panel, cause that would be really sweet. Of course I would have to pay a bit, but 1280x800 is kinda low res for me.

I will have to find out, thanks thund3rball.

No problem. I don't know how much Dell will like the idea of upgrading on a warranty replacement? You might be able to swing some kind of deal but my dealings with warranty at Dell would say the odds are against you. They only want to replace exactly what you have. I understand you'd pay extra for the upgraded part, but I don't think there system can handle it lol.

The replace the screen if you have more than 5-6 dead pixels. Since you have NBD warranrty they will send someone over to help you fix the new screen.

If the screen you have is no longer in stock they will give you an upgraded one for free. Not sure if you can pay extra to get it upgraded though....you will have to call Dell for that.
