    Dell screwing me over+studio 15 screen options!

    Hi All,

    First post here so be gentle please!


    I ordered a Dell Studio 15 on the 15th September with the following spec:

    Core 2 Duo T5750
    15.4in Widescreen WXGA with Truelife- CCFL
    Fingerprint Reader Biometric
    LCD Back Cover : Sea Weed
    Memory Dual-Channel 2048MB (2x1024) 667MHz DDR2
    160GB (5,400 rpm)HDD
    Wireless : Dell Wireless 1397 (802.11 b/g)
    1y CaR warranty.
    Everything else as standard on the Studio 15
    Total price: £469.00


    Estimated delivery was 10th Oct, however 10th came and went and the estd. shipping date went up to the 4th November.

    After spending many hours on the phone to their "customer services" I was promised on two more occasions that the laptop would be shipped to me "within a week" and that it had already been "tagged and is ready to go" but that also never happened, and even my sales advisor admitted there is nothing she can do for me apart from some vauge "compensation" which would either be a carry bag or £20 off.... and trying to get hold of her manager doesn't seem to be possible as he is on voicemail 24/7 and his email adress bounces, and the promised "call back" from him didn't materialise either (and then he myseriously went on holiday) so I have just about had it with them.

    Now to top it all off, looks like Dell have upgraded the standard Studio 15 screen to WLED, with the standard now showing (15.4" Wide Screen WXGA WLED (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™ ) as the base option (probably something to do with this: www1.euro.dell .com/content/topics/topic.aspx/emea/corporate/pressoffice/2008/uk/en/2008_09_24_brk_000?c=uk&l=en&s=corp ). My order has the standard CCFL option on it.

    Now if I am not mistaken, is that not more efficient and better in some way than standard CCFL display....and if so would you cancel this order and reorder it with the new display (and a better processor) if you were in my shoes, or after what (imo) was an unacceptable experience with chasing this inexistent laptop I was promised over a month ago- just call it quits and take my business elsewhere? (If so then I would welcome any suggestions!)

    Edit: After seeing the Studio 15 delay thread, I think I will cancel ASAP! o_O
