How accurate is Dell's projection for shipping? Are they being ridiculously conservative? I ordered my laptop on Tuesday and it's already in "boxing" stage almost ready to be shipped. But Dell projected to be shipped by May 23rd. Is this pretty common?

I order mine on the 6th (after hours) and it will be here tommorow the 13th. It was projected the 16th-21st.
They were much better than projected in my case. -
I read somewhere on Dell's site that their projection dates are to allow for any problems that might occur and are set for the worst-case scenario.
I got mine two weeks early. Boxing takes about 3-4 days, so you probably will get it next week depending on your shipping method.

My projection date was EXACT. I placed my order online, and they estimated that my arrival date would be May 11th. Then, once the order was processed, they erased that, and said that they'd post a new date once my laptop was shipped. Sure enough, once it was shipped, the estimated dates for arrival were between the 10th and the 12th of May. It arrived at 11:42 AM on the 11th of May, just as the original projection said. I was impressed, considering I'm in Canada and the notebook had to be manufactured, shipped from the US, etc.

Ahh, doughnuts; is there anything they can't do?
