After installing Windows 7, did you install a driver for your wireless card? Is your wireless card shown as enabled and working properly in Device Manager?

The battery error just means the battery doesn't hold much of a charge anymore (or at least Windows/Dell doesn't think it does). This is normal for laptop batteries as old as yours. If you don't use the battery much or if the limited runtime is sufficient for you, you don't really need to replace it. 99% this has nothing to do with your wifi issue.

Like you, there have been times when I have experienced difficulty making a wireless connection when I had already connected successfully in the past. What I did to solve it was to make a connection manually. If you go in to the Network and Sharing Center, there is an option there to make a connection manually. Give that a try. After re-establishing the connection manually, it then should connect automatically again every time.

Your battery is done, either replace it or do nothing. eventually it will not accept a charge anymore.

What wireless card are you using and do you have the LATEST drivers installed or at least the ones from the DELL RESOURCE CD?

    Yes install A13
