    Hi!
Four months ago, I bought a 1555 too and I have been having the same problem. However, in the beginning, I thought that it was a periodic fault but yesterday I realized that it was whenever I restarted the computer with the wireless network turned off (via Fn+F2) that the bios was reset.

Also, under a normal restart, if the wireless network was disabled when shutting down, it is still disabled when the computer is restarted. However, when entering the bios and changing the function/multimedia key behavior back to "function key behavior", the wireless network is automatically re-enabled upon restart. So, it seems that there is some strange interconnection between these two things...

I have been on the phone for almost an hour with Dell support, but he was just as baffled as I, so my suggestion is to always have the wireless network enabled.

It would, however, be nice if someone could give a hint of how to prevent the bios from resetting, even with the wireless network turned off!

    Hi Everybody.
    I'm facing the same problem.
Bios multimedia keys options reset after restart, but in my case it seem to be not connected with wifi.
In addition I'm having strange beeps from time to time. Not from speakers, it's kinda system sound. Maybe this problems are connected?
Please, anybody having the solution or explanation post it here.
    Thanks in advance.

It's the last version at the moment, yes.
There used to be an A09 version, but it was removed, probably due to installation problems some people were having with it.
I'm running it at the moment, though.

Have any of you tried re-flashing the latest BIOS to see if it fixes the resetting BIOS "feature"?

Yes, I have done so twice. Once on my own and once after also updating the chipset drivers after having talked to Dell support. No change, however...

I have a Window 7 32-bit OS in my laptop. So, When I have found out a problem, the drivers&applications (Bluetooth, WiFi, QuickSet) for Vista 32-bit (from www.dell.com) have been installed on my laptop. But it has appeared, that the drivers for Win7 64 bit also are compatible with 32bit OS (see description inside the driver archive). After reinstallation of this 3 drivers the problem has disappeared. At least, I tried to restart PC both with the turned on radio-modules and without them. Also Also I changed the settings for function keys in BIOS - strange dependence has disappeared. I have made approximately 20 experiments. I will hope, that it not seemed to me :).

I don't sure yet, that problem is solved, Because there has passed not enough time. But I will tell to you with pleasure.
Look for service tag of your laptop (see back cover).
Go Drivers & Downloads and unput your tag.
Choose OS Windows 7 64-bit (if you OS is Win7 32bit realy) and download drivers from the part "Network" and application QuickSet. Install it.

I had the same problems folks and I did some experimenting. I think it happens when you leave the Bluetooth switched on. Trying switching it off before shutdown and then switch on the Laptop. I think that would solve the problem :)
