    Hello,

    i´ve asked myself:

    is it possible to swap the Intel t4300 in my Dell 1555 Studio with some Intel p8600???

    It´s the same socket (P), but i dunno if the motherboard can handel it.
    Anyone with some experience, to give me some advice ?

    It works just fine. Hell, I bought my 1555 with the P8600.

    Nice, as i assumed, the Motherboards must be the same, because there is only one BIOS to download for all 1555 models.

    I did exactly that with my 1555. Be prepared to strip the whole laptop apart to get to the cpu though

    Yes i´m aware of this "taken apart" thing :)
    i need this CPU for Intel VT, just can´t run ESXi under VMware with the t4300.

    Mhh... i´m just wondering about the BIOS then.
    If i swap the t4200 to p8600 , do some new BIOS settings appear in the Dell 1555 BIOS ? For Intel VT ?

    I think the bios just decide which options are available if a new processor is installed ?!

    Anyone with some advice ?

    Yes, you are correct. The option only appears with a VT enabled CPU
