Iv got the studio 17 and im considering getting a wireless 'N' capable router to stream HD content wirelessly to my laptop via my NAS. The only problem is id need a 'N' capable card in my laptop aswell.
Can anyone recommend me the cheapest card possible (thats available within the UK) that i could install in my studio 17? thanks guys![]()

You can get the Dell 1510, a re-branded Broadcom card, or the Intel WiFi Link 5100 or 5300. Any of these will run about $15-20, so it's not a huge wallet hole. I bought my 5300 for $20, and it's been good. You might as well get it for the three antenna capability.

Sounds like exactly what i need, im struggling to find one within the UK though, aside from £40 from Dell. What do you mean three antenna aswell?

Would that be suitable? Could I expect any other sort of boost aside from speed when connected to a 'N' router. Range etc.
thanks mate -
N band needs all 3 antenna wires connected to the card to make full us of this technology plus a wireless router the supported N band. -

Sorry to keep questioning things but when you say it requires all 3 antenna wires to be connected how do i go about doing this? Are there any instructions online as to how to fit it aswell?
Many thanks guys -

Just want to mention that even with wireless N, HD streaming is fairly dodgy, depending on size of file and . It's often less frustrating to just copy the file over to the laptop.

Thank for the heads up, will keep that in mind! With the N based network it would be quicker to transfer the files across a network though, right? With the limiting factors being HDD speeds & NAS speeds.
Thanks for the links & advise guys! -
It would be faster - the limiting factor would still be the network though, as the hard drives themselves are considerably faster.
