OK I put this in a new thread because I do not think this is a real problem but how this screen is.
A lot of people report a flicker problem but a flicker problem when it it exists is a major issue with the screen refresh.
What I see is in very light or dark screens on my 1555 is a just detectable "Waviness" of the screen, Almost non noticeable looking directly.
Worse at low brightness
is this just the nature of LED back lit screens? I cannot find much on the internet about this I guess due to so few computers had them prior to these models.
So I suspect its not the real flicker problem people complain about but after hours of working on the laptop the last three weeks I finally noticed the problem.
I fixed a driver issue that is also plaguing these computers with the intel 4500MHD card, its with Areo Blur effect, the screen would get chopped up worse with the Win 7 driver then with the Vista driver, I tweaked it from Blur to transparent with a free tweak download and my problem is fixed.

So no one knows anything about LED screens and what is normal?
Huh? -
Hello.
I have the same problem. Is it only on the newer lcds? Because Mine's 4 months old and it developed a stuck pixel, so I sent it back and they replaced the screen. Ever since then I have had a flickering screen on startup but if I put the brightness to max. just after windows (7 64bit) loads then put it back down the flickering has gone!
Just a design fault somewhere I expect.
Side note: My 1555 kept hanging, randomly, I solved this problem by updating the chipset from Intel!
Nice laptop though, so are Dell, they also replaced my power supply because it was making a buzzing noise!

Its only noticeable at angles and on dark or light screens, and like I said not like a flicker like a light waviness.
So yes it may be how the LED back light is, as long as its normal Its fine
