I ordered XP Pro for my 9100. I'm going to kick myself if Dell supplies a restore CD with XP Pro on it...much prefer the full version pure OEM disc for the do-it-yourself types.

If they do supply some type restore disc, can I call to have a full ver OEM cd sent that will let me re-install the OS from scratch?

    Thanks.

    Yeah I hear your fears!
My old compaq desktop came with a win98 restore cd. All the crud that compaq bundled in with it always came back fresh and new each time I reinstalled win98...... yuck.

But Dell shipped me XP pro all by itself! It came on one of their own Dell stamped cd's, but it was pure XP and nothing else that I could see......YAY!

So I hope this answeres your question [ :)]

At the end of the day, it's just a fancy calculator....

It's been my experience in the past that unline HP and Compaq, Dell ships the actual OS CD. Will update when I get my 9100.

I ordered mine w/ XP Home, but it came with an OEM disc. Well, it had a Dell sticker and everything on it but it looked OEM. After installing a bunch of crap on it to see how it handled, I promptly reformatted my drive and put XP Pro on it.

The XP Home disc setup just fine in a different computer. Aside from the different label on top, I think it was an OEM disc. The other drivers and "garbage" programs are on separate discs and extremely easy to reinstall. At least the drivers were. I threw the other stuff away. ;)

These signatures suck. I always mistake them as part of the post.
