Today I ordered an e1705 fully loaded. The very nice Dell saleswoman informed me that I can now choose not to get all the preinstalled soft (bloat) ware on it.
Well, I ordered it that way, so let's see what happens. They also claimed I will get a Vista install disc with it (OS only, not a bloat image).

That is interesting...let us know about the Vista DVD and the bloatware thing.
-
haha i asked for this too and ended up with all the bloatware still and like 66 processes. i think its just a big lie to get u to buy it he even specificly said there wouldnt be aol free trial etc and sure enuf they were still there. but hey maybe ur guy is nice enuf to actual put the word in for them not to install those. i ended up having to reformat anyways.

and yes they still give you so much freekin bloatware -
Yea I don't think that option is just a lie. It's still gonna come preloaded with a whole bunch of useless software.
-
If putting bloatware on the PCs and laptops allows them to sell at lower prices, I don't really mind. It doesn't take much time for me to uninstall them anyways.

If you uninstall a bunch of software do you need to do anything in the registry? if so, what and how?
-
You're registry is going to have a lot of useless extra entries...but you shouldn't need to do anything.
When you request the OS CDs from Dell, they do indeed ship just the OS CD. Yes, it'll probably have some Dell-like XP/Vista deal going on, but the bits on that disc will not contain any bloatware. Dell, unlike some (cough-HP-cough), recognizes the need to provide an option to eliminate the bloat.
Dell supposedly allows you not to get bloatware?
