I bought a used X1 back in October on Ebay. Surprisingly it had 3yrs complete care and next day on site. I manage somehow to transfer the warranty to my name (only valid if you have a US address). Two weeks ago my screen back light just died. So doing all the warranty transfer can be long (up to 30 days) and Dell doesn't send you any confirmation (unless you call them to ask if the transfer passed). I'm in canada for my studies and need the laptop to be repaired b/c of final exams. It didn't take too long to get a tech to replace the whole screen once the warranty was transfer...GOOD job to the dell tech support!!!!!

I'm glad you posted a positive story--too often Dell is maligned with horror stories of poor quality & poor customer service.

People are more likely to complain than to praise.

I've been wanting post a praise thread... as soon as I get my LCD to stop glitching. Because other than that, I really like my laptop.

We'll see, Dell support just had me remove and re-seat my LCD. Kinda fun to take the laptop apart a little bit...

A little over a month after getting my m1210 the DVD-RW drive stopped working. Used the Dell Connect chat room thing on a Thursday. Got a replacement drive the next day so luckily I didn't end up in their "well renowned" horrible customer service.

Chat is the ONLY way to deal with Dell service.

They are sending a technician out with a replacement video card for my E1505.

Sigh. 2 laptops, 2 catastrophic video card failures.

    I love this laptop otherwise.
