Does anyone know what Dell UK's exchange procedure is?

I received my 2nd m1330 notebook 2 days ago- whine's like a stuck pig and have noticed a few scratches etc.

Just got off the phone with dell tech support- they say as it is the latest bios A07 & latest motherboard A04, they cannot really do much and suggest I exchange it or get it sent to the repair depot for them to look at.

Going to phone customer services tomorrow to arrange an exchange- do dell deliver a new one and pick up my old one at the same time? Will it be a brand new model or a refurbished one?

    Cheers

If you only received it 2 days ago, then Dell will replace it with a brand new build.

I had the same questions as you as my newly received 1530 was faulty. The Dell rep confirmed that I would receive a brand new machine and that on receipt I could return it for a full refund if it too was faulty.

Did you have to return your notebook first? or do they do a swap over?

pumauk once they have agreed to replace your unit a new one will be sent out to you, and arrangements for your old one to be returned as you may have data you need to transfer onto the new one let say..

They asked me when I wanted the old one picking up, I said I'd give it to the courier when he delivered my new one.

They were happy with that, I got the impression they were happy for me to return the old one when I wished (within reason).

Just got off the phone to dell- from my mobile I might add, so that's like £5 for the call :(

They won't exchange my m1330 as the whine is not considered a fault........ and then he pretended the line was breaking up when I argued my point with him

So, what the hell can I do now?!

Call again and speak to a different rep. Numerous others on this board have been offered service due to CPU whine, so you should too in theory.

Alternatively just get a refund, you can always re-order if you're set on a 1330.

can't really return and reorder as it's more expensive now

The guy admitted not all of them have the whine and then when I basically said I want an exchange for one that doesnt whine as I had paid good money for it, he didnt have anything to say. Pathetic to be honest!

Can't phone them till monday now anyway cause am working

It'll be discounted again, I believe Dell refresh their offers every 2 weeks.

If they won't give you a replacement and you're not happy with the one you've got, then a refund is the wisest choice.

    Where's this guy based?

I've managed to arrange for a motherboard swap now- but have noticed that one of the small catches on the ram compartment door has broken off..... (just my luck!)- do you think dell would replace this part? I only ask as from what their terms and conditions say the casing is not covered, and of course the windows sticker is affixed to this part- thus making replacement awkward!

    Cheers
