My 9400 shoudl have arrived today.
Purolater's website tracking page now all of a sudden shows
"Scheduled Delivery Appointment Required"
I stayed home for nothing. I called them up, they told me it's been put with the wrong driver. They "passed it on" to another driver, so there's still a chance. The website continue to show the appointment-required message.
Either I'm just getting too anxious waiting for other people to do their job correctly, or I have the feeling I've given a line, and will be told by the end of the day (which is now? 5 o'clock pm) that they will try again tomorrow... I can't stay home another day.
That's the thing with this stupid delivery crap. You wait and wait and wait, and they screw up, and you're stuck with having to bend your life around other people.
I think next time, I'll ship to my work address. It's nice to work at home and all, but I'm not getting a **** thing done, and tomorrow I'm going to be in trouble...

Purolator schedule delivery date is preety accurate. My original system and my system exchane arrived on the estimated date that dell provides and the other arrived one day later. If you look at the purolator site, it should tell you all the info. Its reliable

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I dont know if this is even an option for you, but here in the states, I have all my important packages held at the hub, and pick them up myself, saves a lot aggrevation from waiting, and the wrong truck/wrong address scenario, and the fact that the local carriers have adopted the habit of just leaving packages at the door, wich is really bad in apartment complexes, the boxes tend to be in much better shape, it seems most of the banging and kicking around happens once it gets local -
sounds like just some bad luck, thats why i got mine shipped to my work. no sense in missing work just for a laptop. mine came no problem today
-
So, at around 6:15 or so, it arrived. The box was dented, obviously dropped, but I was lucky, because the dented part was exactly the hollow part of the box.
Laptop seems ok, other than a possible excessive light leakage problem. I haven't decided whether this is acceptable or not. -
ah light leakage, I have yet to see whats bothersom. My 640m mas maybe very minimal but i don't even notice it, i love the thing though kinda wish i had spent the extra bucks on the m1210 as the 640m is alot bigger than i expected but well worth the few bucks I paid. I am glad to hear you got it! I know I called dell today to request my os cd and all the others and they were more than happy to send em to me. I wonder why they even try to charge ppl for the os disc when you can call and get it for free.

Yes those darn Windows installs.
The first thing I did is I booted from a Linux CD in rescue mode to give me a command prompt. I formatted the main large parition with EXT3. When I dd'ed, and piped through gzip, and created large files from those 2 other partitions. I backed up the HD layout (df).
And then I scp'ed all that to my other Linux box.
I now have the ability to restore my harddrive should I ever want to (to sell it later, who knows).
Then I installed Linux RedHat Fedora Core 5. I'm now in the process of installing the ATI drivers, getting sound and wireless to work. I'm sure I'll get through it - been here, done that... ;-)
Woof - I'm glad I nuked it all and install good ol' Linux - soo much nicer.
It'd be nice to be able to buy a Dell laptop WITHOUT windos. It's unconstitutional I tells ya. -
-
I didn't actually really look at that partition to see what inside it. I quickly backed it up, before nuking everything. -
i called yesterday and asked for the os disc and anything else id need for reformatting. 6 disks in total, driver, dell media experience etc... and they had no problem shipping them to me. I also got the this afternoon LOL so was super fast.

Purolator were very helping with me when my laptop was delivered. In fact, it arrived from Toronto at about 9 am and normally the truck all leaves at 8am but I was lucky enough because some drivers decided to wait for that 9am truck before leaving and I was able to recieve my laptop the same day...so I was lucky enough to recieve it before leaving for vacations up north (no phone, no electricity.. and no Puro delivery
)
Purolator reps were very kind and helping when I called !
I fell sory for those who had problems with them... I guess you can't always get your hands on people that really want your satisfaction !
Cheers !
Dell uses Purolator, good or bad ?
