Just got my 1500 and immediately formatted it and reinstalled Vista. I then ran the Dell drivers CD, and clicked on drivers, and under "video drivers" it says:

    nVidia GeForce 8400M Rev A02

However I ordered my Vostro with the 8600GT

Is somewhere in Vista where I can find the exact name of my graphics card?

Under video adapter in device manager it simply says Standard VGA graphics adapter.

It said so on mine too in the drivers window from the cd.

I just downloaded the drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com, cause the dell drivers didnt work with Bioshock.

The drivers from Dell are listed as 8400.. after you install them you should see the 8600 gt in device manager.

Download and run 3dMark06. Don't do the benchmark...rather look at the front screen...it ought to tell all.

Ok I installed the Dell drivers and it's now showing as 8600 GT.

Why won't these drives work with Bioshock?

What version should I go for?

For Bioshock you need the 163.44 drivers, Nvidia released them especially for Bioshock so it would work properly. You need to go to www.laptopvideo2go.com and download them with the modded .inf
