Ok i ordered my dell vostro about 2 weeks ago on the 31st july, it's now the 13th august and still no laptop. i keep checking the status page and it keeps saying in pre-production with an estimated delivery day of 28th august.

is anyone else getting delays with ordering a vostro and anyone know why this is? also to anyone who has one are they a decent laptop?

It really depends on what you added to the standard configuration.

    Lol - where ya been??

Major delays on the Vostro's in Europe - supposedly lack of screens. Vostros of any type have only just started being shipped. no 1700's that we know of yet. My CSR told me today that the online status checker is bust and mine is is production (take it all with a grain of salt).

I ordered mine on the 30th and it arrived at my door today. I ordered just the standard value package though.

I ordered my Vostro 1400 on the 6th and it has a 30th est. Ship date. I'm a bit disappointed, especially as SO many people seem to be getting theirs early, but I did put almost every possible extra I could into it.

How much delay is there on a TrueLife screen?
Dell website now says the preliminary shipping date is 8/31
But, from my last experience, the est. shipping date on my 1400 was 8/15 (15 days from order), but I ended up getting it in 5 days!

Again you are in the US, I don't think the Irish factory is up to date with all the components.
