    Dell wannranty transfer: Is the original owner info required ?

    Can I transfer a dell warranty for a used laptop to my name without knowing the original owners info ?

    Might wanna call Dell about that one. I've heard that the warranty must stick with the original buyer who purchased it from the authorized Dell retailer (Dell.ca/com, Best Buy etc).

    I believe as long as you have the service tag and express service code, yes, you can transfer it without having the original owner enter any data. Of course though, your post sounds a little shady, so a little more detail would be nice. I've sold 2 Dell laptops and transferred the warranties, the only *required* info was service tag and my email/info, but like I said, I think only because I didn't have the express service code.

    I wanted to know in case I buy a dell laptop from a liquidator, and they are not going to have the name of the person who ordered the laptop.

    They will always ask for it.But you can call dell and explain.
